That is just the way they did things in the '30's and '40's. See, I told you I was probably just plain. There is something I really like about the blocks and think you should not change them. Maybe a quilt with just those blocks and a plain sashing to "rest the eyes" would be a great way to use them together. It reminds me of those pictures that when you turn them a tiny bit, the picture changes, but I can't think of what they are called. It's actually a pretty cool effect.

In the 30's they used what they had, sometimes it matched. Some beautiful quilts along with a sense of color and value came from the mixing of various fabrics that initially would not be considered a match...it is so interesting to see how others match colors and patterns!

I decided to sign up for this swap.figured it was a great way to use smaller pieces of fabric left over from other projects and get a start on a terrific new quilt,i am doing a ribbon star one of my fav blocks to make

Thank you so much... The students will really appreciate it. Hopefully, when we get them made I will TRY to post them on here... Maybe you will recognize a few pieces of the fabric. Tell the ladies who choose to donate how much I really appreciate their donations.
