I would like to do Aunt Eliza's Star, I will send the background fabric and would like the star done with soft colors, maybe 30's, is this asking to much or should I just ask for soft fabrics? This is my first time doing this swap so I don't want to ask for to much. I was trying to insert a picture but I can figure it out, maybe someone can help me with that?

I think it's a reasonable block. I might be off here but I'm fairly certain that your block is a variation of the Ohio Star.

If you are concerned about the fabric you send being placed in the right position, you could include a half-sheet of paper with the diagram labeled as "my fabric", "your fabric / light", and "your fabric /dark" or something to that effect so it's absolutely clear what you want done.

I'm currently doing another BOOM but it will be done in tie for me to play here as well. I'm a bit concerned about the difficulty level of blocks. I have been looking at the ones people are considering - I had never noticed that Quilter's Cache had such a variation in their instructions. Some instructions for half and quarter - square triangles are given with drawing a line and sewing 1/4" on either side and some are shown cutting and sewing bias edges. I know I can figure I out the easier way for myself - I just find it odd to still see directions w/bias edges when so few quilters like to sew their patterns that way. I am still lurking and sitting on the fence waiting to see what blocks are involved.

crafty one - I have seen your work - and you aren't afraid of triangles. We all seem to be at about the same level. Step on in.

I like that block! My quilt shop has a section of 30's fabric I've been dying to try out! You gave me a good reason.

It would be wonderful to make sure you're specific where you want your fabric to go and my fabric to go. I definitely don't want to get anyone's blocks wrong!

And on that note, I don't mind where anyone puts my fabric on my block, or what colors they use. This is my first BOOM and I'm excited to see what kind of variations everyone chooses.
