I'm still slowly working on making blocks. The long and enjoyable part is selecting my fabric to go with your fabric. So many choices and hard to decide which color combination you would enjoy the most. I do enjoy making your blocks. After making dinner, back to choices and sewing. Happy sewing and quilting everyone.

Can you guys believe it???? June 1st is around the corner. 13 days away. Wow where did the time go! Ok we have to remember that all our blocks must be done by June 1st and mailed on June 1st. Of course, you can always mail them to me sooner. I am excited because I only have a few blocks left to do and will be all done soon. YEAH!!
Let me know if anyone you are having any life crisis that will prevent you from mailing by June 1st.
Weather is being weird all over the USA, so all of you are safe and happily sewing in your homes. WE have had cool weather but it has been pleasant. We did get some rain last week and it was delightful. Keep on sewing.

Oh I forgot to tell you guys. One of the advantages of having to do two of everyones blocks is that I sort of get to see what your quilts will look like. The only disadvantage is that it is boring doing the same design twice. But I like seeing the duplicated when I am done.

I honestly believed deep down that my head was going to explode on this one...partly because I have never done triangles like this and partly because when I came downstairs this morning the cat had strewn my carefully planted seedling peat pods all over the dining room floor and I was in a generally fowl mood this morning

The trouble started with the white on white...I misread the instructions and cut the WOW in such a way that I could not use what was sent- didn't have a big enough piece left to make the bigger square. So I went to my fabric place and got a VERY similar WOW with flowers and leaves...unfortunately they didn't have the identical...sorry about that. Wasn't sure how else to rectify the situation. Then of course I just struggled generally with the triangles, but I left enough by doing VERY scant seam allowances that trimming them seems to have done the trick. Anyway, it's better than I thought. The colors got all messed up when transferring to the computer again. The bluish looking one is actually a medium dull purple and the DARK green one isnt dark..it's also a muted flat sort of green. I know dark colors were out for this one- they really aren't so dark! Promise! Anyway. I am behind but catching up!

(I'll bet the puppy put the cat up to it in some manner...look at her face, she is innocent of all things)

You block looks great to me

My cat thinks she is helping me and I don't let her know that she is making more of a mess then I make.....which in itself is very hard to believe. Once she got up on the sewing table and laid down on my fabric that was cut out for the block and when she got up, a piece was stuck to her. She went all over the house and came upstairs to me and I saw the piece on her cute little body. I rescued it. PHEW!

All done w/my blocks - need to snap a few more pics but plan to mail on Friday if all goes well. The blocks that scared me the most were the Plaited Block and the Rick Rack block. Both turned out surprisingly well - was proud of myself or getting them all done w/no issues on final measurements. I am in love with my new machine - but also discovered what the problem was w/the blocks in my last boom. When I bought my new machine I left my old one off for service. When I picked it up the service guy said that the thread tension was all out of whack and totally inconsistent. That made me feel much better about my off size (by 1/4") blocks - as I had used the same thread/1/4" presser foot/and tension setting for all my blocks. He says she is good as new now but I haven't tried her out yet as I am still getting to know my new machine.

Always a new learning curve with a new machine.

Glad to hear you got the problem figured out! Nice to have an old reliable back

I got Nelcos block done yesterday. Forgot to take a photo before I threw it in the bag. It was simultaneously fun and exhausting! I like puzzles and geometry! So that part was fun. I didn't learn till after I finished it that you really shouldn't starch small pieces because it distorts them...I guess I should have figured that out from doing it, but I had to hear it from someone I guess. Anyway, so going forward I won't starch small bits and see what happens. I have become such a starch fanatic it is hard to put it down...On to the starflower now! I've done this one over and over for a quilt I am piecing so I should be an expert right...right?
