    Hi everyone,

I went down to start quilting tonight and I had a thought. I have a daughter that is graduating on the 29th of this month from culinary school. I was planning to do some fun things for her kitchen for Easter, but I may decide to just give it all to her for graduation. This is where I would like to request your help. I have been doing the block swap and have loved it. For anyone who would like to swap with me, I would like to make a wall hanging and some table runners and such. My only requirement on the blocks would be that they are somehow food related.

Man, I should have thought of this in February or March.

    Thanks

I'm not sure I understand what you would like to do. Do you want us to make food related fabric items and swap them with you for something else? And you would need them before the 29th?

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. Just a quilt block and then I would make a block for you, and we would swap. Yes, I would need them asap so I can get this done on time. If I give it to her late, she will understand, but I would like to have it done as close to that date as possible. Then with the quilt blocks, I would make a wall hanging and a table runner.

you need to move this topic to the Donation area not the classified section since you are wanting to swap, not sell/buy something! Ask PatriceJ to move it for you.

Your best bet would be to ask for a fat quarter or two of any food related fabric, that way you can make the quilt or wall hanging anyway you want. My son too likes to cook so I have been collecting items with food and cooking utensils.

I looked through my 501 pattern book.

There are several that might work.

    blocks NAMED for kitchen items
    churn dash
    corn & beans
    rolling pin
    cake plate
    fruit basket
    ?? dresden plate ??

    pieced blocks of teacups, etc

pieced farm animals... rooster, ckn, cow, sheep

I dont have any food fabric. I do have 30's charms & that really cute Canning Day stuff from connecting threads.

Would any of those be acceptable to you? If so, I would like to trade a block with you :)

do you have color preferences ... DD kitchen?

know what else would be cute, one block that is just checkerboard in red or blue or a muted tone that matches her kithen

mousie has lots of imagination... hee!

IMHO a bunch of novelty fabrics gets old after awhile, unless they are a focus fabric and you use one in each block center for example. You could make a churn dash with a food fabric in the center. If you put a snowball block next to it, it looks great. Hope this helps and it will go FAST.
