I agree with others that borders need to increase from the center, not decrease, which means if we're going to change the size of the outer borders, they need to become 7" or 8".
It's kind of hilarious reading about sewing time. Being a full-time employee, weekends are my only time for sewing and I can only hope that nobody shows up for a visit. For this round, I've had a three-day weekend and am not going to finish although I will be close. Maybe I'll brave an evening even though that's when my seam ripper sees the most action. Too tired after work to think clearly.
Whatever turnaround time we get will just have to work. I think I'm in group two, which means one more weekend of sewing as it appears we mail the week of September 11.

Thanks, everyone for posting pictures!
Updates:
There are only 2 of us who have not posted a picture of the 24" quilt top.
With the Federal holiday (in USA) on Monday, it makes a short mailing week for the first group. Please plan ahead if you are mailing internationally.
The second group has one week more of sewing time, if needed, but mostly because we had a time consuming international mail situation.
The responses we had about the next sewing time, is that 3 weeks seemed like enough time for it. So, we'll go with 3 weeks of sewing time for the second group and 4 weeks of sewing time for the first group in order to put both groups on the same schedule again.
We'll all mail the week that starts October 9th. However, to allow approximately 12 days for international mail, international mailers should plan to mail at the end of the sewing time (that is, give yourself less sewing time and more mailing time). We discovered that domestic US mail was less than a week.
Add a 6" border, resulting in a 36" quilt top (36 1/2").
Give your input regarding the 4th border--would you like 2", 3", 4", 6", or 8" added for that round? Would you like 3 weeks, 4 weeks, or 5 weeks sewing time?
I'd like 3 weeks of sewing time for the 4th border. Just to let you know, if we decide on a wider border you might get something that looks like two or three narrower borders, I don't know, math sort of freaks me out. I'm not good on math. lol

Yes, b.zang, your mail time is during the week of Sept. 11.
Most comments seem to suggest that Round 4 and Round 5 should be larger. So let's go with Round 4 and Round 5 both at 8". It means the quilt top arriving home will be 68". Please, everyone give some input on how much sewing time you want for Round 4 and Round 5, considering that they are going to be a longer length and wider width.
Round 3 is 6" (total quilt top size = 36 1/2"). Let's try, everyone, to mail the quilt top the week of Oct. 9. If mail is slow internationally again, we will extend the time another week.
I totally agree with you, Barbara. I work too, so weekends are my best time for sewing. Let's not anyone stress out! :-) I'm sure the rest of us can be patient in order to keep us all moving forward together.
I'm having fun with you all! Today I made an album with our pictures, so if you want to look at our collective group progress, then check it out. :-) http://www.quiltingboard.com/members...bums19669.html

I think for the 4th and 5th round we should have maybe 4 weeks for round 4 and 5 weeks for round 5 as they are increasing. And I want to make sure I do the top justice and make it something I would want to receive. Just my thoughts. I do agree on the increase sized borders and think we should increase those in an even number increment like what you have suggested.like
