i made what i thought was going to be my block today. its just shy of 18inches. its the perfect size for a doll quilt, and the border fabric is too pretty to trim down, so i am on to plan B.

paperpieceme, you can add a border to your block and make it come out to 18 1/2" or 21 1/2" or 24 1/2".

Since this will be my third round robin I was having a hard time trying to come up with an idea for center/theme. I went out to pick up material for a wedding gift quilt and it hit me - Opposites Attract which lead to the purchase of black on white and white on black FQ to make my center. Now to find a block.......

I am contemplating using one of my gram's stray blocks....she was a prolific quilter and I have many of her beautiful quilts...all hand pieced and hand quilted...so perfect you would swear the piecing was machine stitched! The last RR I participated in (15 yrs ago!) I used one and loved it! She has been gone since 1994. Do you think it will be a struggle to find appropriate matching fabrics for a vintage block? She probably made this block in the 70's I'm guessing. But it isn't wild, lol!

It all depends how you feel if the fabric is poly/cotton which was all the rage back then. Fabric can be matched pretty easily I think.

I have my block picked out, its a very pretty block that Oldcatlady made for my boom 8 that I want to replicate. Now to pick the four fabrics.. such a horrible terrible job that staring at your fabrics and.. touching all of them!

Brat, that block is #568 in the Quiltmaker's 100 Block vol 6, I did a solid square in the middle instead of the checkerboard. Very easy block to do with big results
