The journal is a small book that you write in introducing your self, who you are, your interests, etc. ..... sending a picture. Put your theme. Whatever you want to add. As others receive your journal, they add to your journal about themselves, which row they worked on it and date. They might add ideas they have for your quilt as they are working on it. Your journal stays with your row and autograph blocks. Your journal returns to you with your row, your label, and their autograph blocks. So at the end, we each have more information about each other. You can include your name, address, phone number, email, birthday. Whatever you would like. If you do not want to have a journal, that is ok too.

I posted in the main thread asking about others who are doing what I am doing- having their fabric used to construct a satr in their block, I want to see if they have the same idea. I know I saw one person and didn't get back there before all the groups were chosen. If you run across anything like it let me know..

Roseysue, don't worry, I will figure it out and make stars out of the flower fabric. Love , Sherry

I am confused also, about Roseysue's request for stars in her row. I think she means that she wants a star pattern in the quilt block and she wants us to make the stars out of flower material.
Mariah, I send to you each time. And Roseysue's will be a few rows down the line. So I think we will understand it all better when we see her pictures. She also wants the flowers to be real looking flowers in light to medium pinks. Her favorite is roses. I will just have to wait and see how hers looks and what I can find to go with it.

My row does not have to have stars. Everyone can do the row however they want to. I know I will probably do simple rows, since I am new to quilting. I hope this is all right with everyone.

After filling out what you want to put on your blocks, keep one for yourself, then send the rest with your row. Everyone should take one at the time they work on your row. The rest are sent on with your row onto the next, until your row & blocks have passed through everyone and you get your row home again, minus your autograph blocks. We will end up with signature blocks signed by all of us to go with our quilts. There are all kinds of autograph blocks. Quilters cache has some, or check the internet for the block patterns. It really is endless. We will be taking one each, for us to keep. These accompany the row we are working on.

Then you include a label that has as an example:

Row Robin 2011 hosted by Bookworm
    *3's a Charm*
Row 1 (completed by): ( name, date, location)
Row 2 (completed by): ( name, date, location)
Row 3 (completed by): ( name, date, location)
Row 4 (completed by): ( name, date, location)
Row 5 (completed by): ( name, date, location)

I hope this makes sense. The autograph blocks and label can be any shape or size you choose to go with your theme or whatever you choose. Use a black pigma pen or send one with your row.
Thanks for the info. When you have yours done, maybe you could post a pic. In the meantime, I will follow your suggestions and check out those sites.

    Hi Ladies,
Just 2 things; one to add to the fun, and one to save hearache and disappointment.
First, to add to the fun; what would you think of having "show and tell," one month before we mail; January 20. We all show what we have done and maybe add a little about what else goes on, ect.
Now, to the "save a disappointment and heartache." Read Pattis47 on the group 1 thread. She tells about her package being all torn up when she got it, run through a postage machine, grease, ect, on it, ect.
I firmly believe we should put our rows in a box wrap well, the label on well, and postage tape all around it. Then, insure our boxes. I think this will help. The way I read it it was sent as a "package." So, that would be just paper of some kind wrapped around the row and labels, ect.
Everybody, let's hear your input on these issues.
    Mariah
    Group Leader.

Since there are other things to comment on, I figured I'd write one post instead of taking up so much space in quote reply. With this post, I am attaching a pic of fabrics to givy everyoone an idea of what I mean by pink and grean and floral ( doesn't have to be roses, but does have to be'real', not a designer's caracthuer(sp?)of a flower.I hope that makes sense. The samples in the pic are meant to show you that I am not fixed on just one hue or shade. I would like there to be contrast in the row so the stars show up. If after seeing this picture, please ask any questions. I am very flexible, not fixed on any color or star shape, so please don't feel locked in. I want you to feel free and relaxed when you do my row.
The business about the star is that to use the fabric in piecing the shape of a star (or stars within the block. When I get some done, I will take pictures of them. Use pink And green when making the block - some of the floral and accenting with the blenders.

The Journal sounds like a GREAT idea! It willgive us a chance to express ourselves and know each other better and make this truly a social project as it is meant to be.

I love your fabrics. I do not know how to piece the material to make a star. I do know how to use HST to make a star.
