I joined the round robin for the very same reason - because I was a little worried that I wouldn't figure it out. Now I find that participating in a group project really stretches my imagination because I get to interpret what the others have done and I get to add my creativitiy to it.

If you are worried that the recipient won't like what you have planned, you can ask questions and post pictures along the way. OR you can just let those quilty juices flow and do the best you know how. ...and have fun!!!!!!

I agree!! We all have fun and it's so exciting to get the finnished row's back.

I think I decided on the block that I'm doing for my row.. I think I'm doing 3 variations of the mariners compass block. :) I'm so excited.

Here it is on its way to the washing machine... My theme is mardi gras and I am going to do a spiderweb block in purple, green and gold. There is also going to be a strategically placed mardi gras themed applique on my row. The black is for the background. The dark purple is also going to be my sashing and border.

I can't wait to see everyone else's ideas! Surely I'm not the only early bird!

Quick photo shoot before hitting the laundry...

If we are going to beat the rush.....you are going to have to do what I did and ignore those pesky Christmas projects and get down to business on that ROW.....you dont want to be one of those laggers now do you....

guess I'm going to be staying in the back of the room for a while too....

On a more serious note - the fabric I ordered for my row arrived yesterday. It is perfect! I spent quite a few minutes this morning petting it and envisioning my row. So excited to get started! Now, if only I could get those pesky Christmas projects done so that I can start cutting...

as i'm from scotland, i'm not that familiar with the happenings of the mardi gras!

please, enlighten me on how you will carry it over to a quilt!

    i'm intrigued...

Jacquie, here is a link that will give you some idea of the things associated with Mardi Gras in New Orleans for 2011.
    http://mardigrasday.com/
look at all the gold, purple, green they use... for the row you could do masks, crowns, beads, or any number of other things, the musical instruments (trumpets, trombones etc)

WOW ladies!!! all of your themes are so intriguing!! I'm working on a dear Jane in civil war fabrics as well as a civil war tribute. I've got a stash of purple fabrics that I dont know what I want to do with... so bring on the Mardi Gras [loved new orleans a decade ago]... I've just finished a couple of batik celtic blocks, finished a manatee quilt for daughter's best friend wedding gift and a dolphin quilt for my niece. My daughter is a falconer and we will be getting our third owl this Tuesday from Michigan - an Eastern Screech.. we have a great horned and had a barn owl [he took off to be with his sweetheart after being serenaded by her for a few months - cute story will share some other time] I promised Steph I would work on designing a birds of prey quilt for her, but other creative things get in the way [can't have too many UFOs  ] Now the problem of deciding a theme for this one - maybe "anything goes?" ....dont write that down yet bookworm :D
