Ooopss.....I forgot to give my theme. I am turning my son's old bedroom in to a room with a patriotic theme. My husband's father was a retired Lt. Colonel pilor in the Air Force and we have his burial flag as well as many framed medals that I want to put in the room. We also have my father's burial flag and medals. So basically the room will honor both of our fathers. I figure red, white and blue traditional and star blocks. What do ya'll think?

Qbee, the idea for your room to honor your fathers is so heart warming. Reading it gave me goosebumps. I have an uncle who died in WW2, my father fought in WW2 and Korea, my husband was in the USAF for 7 years and our son was in the Army. I am very patriotic, and when I see someone in military uniform I tear up every time. I think you have a great idea for your quilt and I will be honored to add to it.

That sounds beautiful, Qbee! I hope I can do justice to it.

My theme is "Patriotic Civil War Sampler", made with civil war repro fabrics in deep reds, grayish-blues, off-whites, tans, etc. Below is a photo of my blocks (not sewn together yet). I'd like to add sashing and cornerstones between the blocks, and can include them when I mail it off. Will that be okay with everyone?

Just to make sure I understand the mailing process, I'll be mailing to Babeyruth every time, correct? Sorry if that's a dumb question. This is my first Row Robin.

Woohoo! Really looking forward to this!
I like the idea of your patriotic quilts, I just hope that having a Brit contribute won't be a problem. We've been having red, white and blue everywhere this summer, first for the Queens diamond jubilee, and then the Olympics. It's been great.
I still need to finalize my theme. Are we ok doing sashing or not? Also does anyone have thoughts on prewashing or not?

OK....I stole this from one of the other leaders but it was SO well done....LOL

    Mailing dates are:
    1st Row – mail by Dec. 1st
    Row 2 – Feb. 1st
    Row 3 – April 1st
    Row 4 – June. 1st
    Row 5 – Aug. 1st

A few things to think about:

Correspondence - include with your starter row. This could be a piece paper, note card or anything you choose. Consider this your opportunity to express your preferences, such as colors, techniqes, and what not to do/use. Perhaps you prefer to join your rows when they come home to you - you would state that in your correspondence.

Labels - Send along a label with your starter row for each person to sign. This can be as simple or fancy as you want.

Sashings - Does anyone in the group have objections if any of the swappers wants to send along sashing to be used to join the rows together? It may affect the cost of shipping.

Mailing the rows - What is the preference of the group - do we mail according to the dates, or do we want to mail the rows as soon as they are finished?

What are we forgetting to address?
    Suggestions?
    Comments?

    Let's get this party started
