LOVE our group! Can't believe this is the last row! When we started I thought, gosh, it'll be almost 10 months before this is finished but, as always, life continues to happen along the way and time just flies by and, here we are, at the finish line.....sigh.....

It is getting exciting to see how all of the tops will be looking as we finish up what we are doing. I know I would be proud to own any of the tops that I have worked on. I am sure you all feel the same way. Yeah for all of us!!!!!

I have a question. I have never made a Jacob's ladder. Does the center square have to be a 4 patch? Do you need the 4 patches in the corners to make the ladder? Thanks, Sherry

Having been in several row robins, for me personally, it is easier to work on rows that are attached to each other, rather than having the rows separate. It is harder to plan my row when I can't visualize how the whole thing looks together. I know the rows I have right now each measure a different length. So, I am not sure which measurement to go by.

Every Jacob's Ladder pattern I found was the same...there's one in each of the rows you have so follow that pattern.

I disregard what others do and try to make my row exactly 12 1/2" tall and 60 1/2" wide...when it gets back to the original owner we'll square it up before we add our borders. Everyone's scant 1/4" is just a little bit different from the next person's...it just happens....

    Does this help?

    Barbara - -

I received Yvonnes' package of 'houses' rows. Looking forward to working on it. Wow! Can't believe we're in our final leg of this journey. What fun this has been (not quite over, but almost). I'm anxious to see everyones' blocks for my quilt, then to put it all together.

    Sherry - -

    Here's a Jacob's ladder:

    - - can 'point' in either direction. Personally, I think a Jacobs Ladder looks best with 3 colors; shows the pattern better. Just my opinion - - -
Hope all is well with everyone. I know at one point, we discussed the possibility of doing another robin amongst the five of us. Is there still interest in doing this??? Let me know!

Sherry, Jane is correct that a Jacob's ladder has the four patches and the HSTs. Without the 4-patch it is a Contrary Wife block. Don't feel obligated to make one. I was rather surprised everyone did. Do whatever you like.

I am sorry it is troubling you that they aren't sewn together. Just lay them out and pretend that is how they will be. I am having a terrible time because I don't know where to put my row on Barbara's! As long as your row is close to 60.5", I will make it work. I think I am going to do some shorter rows as sashing. I don't even care if the row is 12.5". Do whatever works for you and I will love it!

Thanks for working on my row.

Yvonne, would you like to see your quilt top so far?? I took a picture. Okay. Here it is! I decided to not wait for an answer - - - hehehe

I have to tell you - - I'm not an 'appliquer' so my row will be pieced blocks. Hope that's okay.
