I will try the sand paper idea. I did read that somewhere on this forum, it just seems like it would make the fabric bumpy and not a smooth writing surface.
Thanks so much for the tip.

The idea I found for the blocks is to make a scrappy 16 patch block of darker fabrics, and each block contains 8 signature blocks. The center has 4 regular squares and there is a regular square in each corner. On each side, 2 of the signature blocks point to the center, meeting each other to form an arrow. It forms a star block. If you want, I could draw a picture on Tues. to help explain it better. This is a great way to use up some scraps, too. It would also mean that each block would measure 12".

Use really fine grit sand paper and it just holds the fabric so you can move the pigma pen over the fabric without it pulling. I use sand paper under quilt tops when I mark them!

This is actually going to make a nice size quilt!!! My mind is just going in circles trying to figure out how I'm going to do this. I have an idea, but I need to sit down and draft it out. Here I have EQ6 (with EQ7 upgrade on its way) and haven't had time to learn the darn thing!!! Probably would make my life easier!!!

I'd like to see a picture of your block. I am having a hard time visualizing. (That is not new for me. I usually need to see what is being taught. )

That is an idea. Once I finish, I will have to see what I get back and decide from that.
