From the perspective of a military affiliated wife & those with significant others & family members who cannot be home for the holidays for whatever reason I choose...

Vince Vance & The Valiants, Featuring Lisa Layne
Take back the holly and mistletoe
    Silver bells on strings
If I wrote a letter to Santa Claus
I would ask for just one thing

I don't need sleigh rides in the snow
    Don't want a Christmas that's blue
Take back the tinsel, stockings, and bows
'Cause all I want for Christmas is you

    I don't need expensive things
    They don't matter to me
All that I want, it can't be found
    Underneath the Christmas tree

You are the angel atop my tree
You are my dream come true
Santa can't bring me what I need
'Cause all I want for Christmas is you

    I don't need expensive things
    They don't matter to me
All that I want, it can't be found
    Underneath the Christmas tree

You are the angel atop my tree
You are my dream come true
Santa can't bring me what I need
'Cause all I want for Christmas is you
'Cause all I want for Christmas is you
'Cause all I want for Christmas is you

    hugs,
    dj

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas!

I love silly Christmas songs -- right now the USPS is airing a very cute commercial with a young girl who sees a hippo at the zoo and wants one for Christmas, and her indulgent parents buy a stuffed animal (hippo), and Priority Mail comes through for the big day. Until she looks out the window on Christmas morning and sees a deer!!!

    Marietta & Sleepy Hollow

I always had a hard time judging what a pinch, dash, smidgen & nip were.
That is until I found these measuring spoons many years ago.

I hope they'll come back and post again too as I also enjoyed their contributions to the conversation here. Others left last year, and I'm dismayed to see that happen again this year.

My favorite Christmas carol is the Coventry Carol. It's so peaceful.

I also love Mary Did You Know. It always brings a tear to my eye.

I'm always happy to hear Karen Carpenter's angelic voice singing Marry Christmas, Darling. It takes me right back to my teen years!
