Christmas Shoes

It was almost Christmas time,
there I stood in another line
tryin' to buy that last gift or two,
not really in the Christmas mood.

Standing right in front of me
was a little boy waiting anxiously.
Pacin' around like little boys do,
and in his hands he held
a pair of shoes

And his clothes were worn and old.
He was dirty from head to toe.
And when it came his time to pay,
I couldn't believe what I heard him say,

"Sir, I wanna buy these shoes, for my momma please.
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size.
Could you hurry sir?
Daddy says there's not much time.
You see she's been sick for quite a while,
and I know these shoes will make her smile,
and I want her to look beautiful,
if momma meets Jesus tonight."

They counted pennies for what seemed like years,
then the cashier said, "Son there's not enough here."
He searched his pockets frantically.
Then he turned and he looked at me.
He said, "Momma made Christmas good at our house
though, most years she just did without.
Tell me sir, what am I gonna do?
Somehow I gotta buy her these Christmas shoes."

So I laid the money down.
I just had to help him out.
And I'll never forget
the look on his face
when he said, "Momma's gonna look so great."

I knew I caught a glimpse of Heaven's love
as he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God has sent that little boy to remind me
what Christmas is all about.

"Sir, I wanna buy these shoes, for my momma please.
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size.
Could you hurry sir?
Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while,
and I know these shoes will make her smile,
and I want her to look beautiful,
if momma meets Jesus tonight."

I want her to look beautiful,
if momma meets Jesus tonight.

Holly Jolly Christmas

Have a holly, jolly Christmas;
It's the best time of the year
I don't know if there'll be snow
but have a cup of cheer
Have a holly, jolly Christmas;
And when you walk down the street
Say Hello to friends you know
and everyone you meet.

Oh Ho the mistletoe
hung where you can see;
Somebody waits for you;
Kiss her once for me
Have a holly jolly Christmas
and in case you didn't hear
Oh by golly have a holly jolly Christmas this year

Gran, that sounds like a wonderful present to yourself. I really do love any appliance the saves the environment and your pocket book. And, I remember the days of picking out and buying my own gifts and then wrapping them up and putting them under the tree. Now that hubby and I are seperated, my children do a wonderful and thoughtful job picking presents for their mom. Sharon, (and am really glad they don't buy jewelery. i don't wear it and most of it makes me itch anyway. so, i guess that means i don't need it.)

Gran, Sharon, McDaniel so nice your spending time with your family. I actually got lucky this year. My husband paid for me to spend Christmas with my kids this year and am enjoying it tremendously.

Dreamer, Thank you so much for the beautiful christmas music. I know you will be by yourself on the holiday so you def. will be in my thoughts. I knew what that was like last year and so wanted to be with my family. But, finding the quilt board and all you wonderful ladies fills my life with a lot of joy.

So, Bring on your leftover cookies, and goodies and we'll continue to party through the new year. I remember my mom making home made donuts and warm apple cider. And I will be looking for all of you to spend it with.

grann, found your blog. I will keep making my way over there. sometimes I can get on and sometimes I can't.

Judith, I just wish I could post pics easily over there. Maybe after the holidays I will have time to pursue that possibility. I will try to post daily on it and keep everyone up to speed on my quilting and the doggies. They had a grand time with their "cousins". I couldn't get Gus in any pics, but let me see if I can post the one of Heidi sharing her sofa with Roger.

Here is another cute pic. Roger is the one with just a touch of pit bull (between his eyes and his toes). Klaus is the hairy one, part German Shepard.
