Here is my mug rug. I cut strips to represent me, my darlings, DD's BF, and my BFF. Added NYC, beach, nature, autumn. Added quilting, cooking, music, salad & chocolate! It is woven and then fused together... so it is really a rug!

Time to discover each other, this will be fun and entertaining. Good, Bad or Ugly we need to communicate what we are all about warts and all.

You may approach this project two ways:
    1. Reflecting things you like and or
    2. Reflecting things you are.

The Self Portrait mug rug format will be 8 1/2" x 11", the size of a sheet of paper.

I will provide a link for you to post a picture of your mug rug prior to mailing. This will be part of the requirement in participating in this swap. You may also provide "work in progress" photos along with comments about your process and thoughts. This is to be a fun and entertaining project for everyone. No uptight gotta be right attitude going on here, just fun.

If you need some ideas google self portrait quilts and see what you find.

I so hope you will want to join in the fun sign up please!
You will swap directly with one partner, which will be assigned. Once assigned you will need to PM each other to get addresses, etc.

Sign up by May 1st 12 pm.
Names will be sent out by May 15th, 2011.
Rugs should be mailed out by May 31st, 2011
    Mail USps with delivery confirmation.

Please let me know by pm you have sent and recieved your mug rug.

This is a self portrait project which will reflect what you like, colors, blocks, anything the makes you "Smile".
The images you use can be anything that reflect your desires, hobbies, food, family, nature & spirit. Please do not try to influence the mug rug comming your way. Let it be a complete surprise and an opportunity to know your partner better as a person and as an artist.

Swap is open to quilters of all levels and abilities and open to anyone. If you can't ship internationally please let me know in a PM.

Please pay particular attention to recommendations for selecting fabric, and to note my obligations in the event swappers do not follow-thru on their commitment to this swap.
Please check your rug tops before you assemble them as "mini quilts" to ensure the following:
    - Seam allowances should be a minimum of 1/8"; 1/4" is preferred. They should be constructed to hold up to machine washing.
    - Please check to make sure there are no holes caused by incomplete seams.
    - Please check to make sure that the seam allowances have not frayed so much they won't survive washing.
Use 100% cotton, use batting and bind or turn. Finish size needs to be 8 1/2" x 11" you may use embelishments such as beads, yarns, threads, fabric paint, stuff that can go through a wash.

Review the general swap guidelines for all swaps on the board. You are responsible for retreaving that information and abiding by the requirements outlined.

Failure to fulfill your committment will result in notification to the board, which will prevent your participation in future swaps.
OK, I have been cogitating about this since May 1st, it finally came together in the last few days. I took a bunch of pictures of my favorite things, saved them in Picassa. So they include, Hawaii, DH with his new surf board, fabrics, quilts, flowers, and a little bit of my sewing machine. And me, of course! It says, "Express Yourself" around the edges... I hope you like it, whoever gets it!!!! It was fun. oh, and I printed it out on Printed Treasures fabric that can go through the printer, and embroidered it on my Pfaff 7550.

These are great. I am still working on mine. I finished the top. Now I have to put batting and back on, bind it and embellish it. I had pneumonia and I did not have the energy to do anything. I worked on it today and will work on it tomorrow. This is fun.
