I think most of you know that I am notoriously undisciplined as a general rule. But this past week, I've been try very hard to get my life and house in order. In fact, in the few areas I've conquered, I've been downright meticulous.

Well that's the case for this first doll quilt. It actually follows a pattern! While it's not perfect, I did trim all the squares to size and putting it together, I noticed some of the seams were a little off kilter, so I actually used a seam ripper several times! When I put them back together, I used pins!

Now I know that all this sounds like the norm, but for me, it is not. And I find the entire process to be fascinating.

    Back to work.
Oh thanks Krystyna! I'm glad something I said (it was in the August thread) was inspiring to you. The advice to AmyBaby was:
"Never second guess yourself--what you make in the moment is who you are at that moment. Yes it's okay to step out of your sewing box, but at the same time I think it's important to remain true to your quilting self. But then I have had several years (ha ha) to develop my quilting self! Your next quilt will be who you are at that time."

It's kind of funny to me because I'm taking my own advice as I plan some mini's for AAQI.
I, sew appreciate your words of wisdom. It has been through the doll quilt swaps and lots of inspirational tutorials that I think I am beginning to find my quilting self. I.E. I am an art quilter at heart. For the moment/month/what have you, I am only geared toward smaller quilts with an artsy flair... if I can. I really want to wrap Zentangle type, Inktense Water Color Pencils, dense FMQing, beads and embellishments unlimited in to a swirl of I-don't-know-what! But, for the moment, I am trying super hard to focus on just a few right now so I can nail something down for Krystyna's Doll Quilt.

 serious and  laughing at the same time. Time to get back at IT!

Linda, I am soooo glad you are my second partner this month! This is going to be marvelous! I am now going back for a session with my seam ripper because I don't like the quilting I've done. Insane! I've never done this before.

I found the fabric today at the shop! :) I hope that my partner likes it. I loved it! The problem is that I have 2 fabrics that I am contemplating! I bought both so we'll see what happens! ;) Oh, I'm not as outgoing so my DQ won't be as bold I feel sure. It will have some pretty fabric in it though. ;)

Hi everybody! Had stuff going on this month, so didn't sign up. Boo hoo... I love black white and brights. Saw that one or two have already gone out in the mail. Can't wait to see the picture postings start. If I get any free time, I may just have to make one - just to keep for a change. Maybe to put in my kitchen since I'm doing it in black, white and bright peach. Heck it could turn into a table runner, place mats, a trivet or hot pads. (Probably more like a pan handle pad only - since that's all I really have time to do....). Happy swapping - I'll keep peeking in - so excited to see them this month.

    Hugs to everyone!

I had to stop by tonight to see if the first black/white showed up yet. I don't have my finished but I know what I am doing so that's the biggest part done. Looking forward to some fantastic quilts.

Glad you are back in the swap. Good to hear you are okay and made it through Irene! We couldn't do a swap without you!

So many of you are already ready to mail your DQs!!! Holy Guacamole!
I think I've decided on a pattern & did have the fabrics picked & pulled, but haven't started yet.
I'm doing a demo on Wonky Stars for part of the program at my guild meeting Thursday night, so have been working on that. And next month I'm teaching a guild workshop on the Jelly Roll Race quilt, so made a new sample top for that this past weekend.

I'm hoping that the group mom for the Secret Pal Swap, Lori, will jump in next month. The group over there is so much fun. Maybe some of you will join?

Well, last night I ripped out the quilting on my "normal" one. I'm still not wild about what I did and am finding that the quilting is tedious for me. I get off to a good start and then get bored. Happily I'm on the last square and the I'll smack on the binding, figure out a label and off she goes!
