Well, I actually emailed my sister to see if she had opened the package I sent. I knew she got it. She said yes. Thank you for more junk to clutter up my house. She's a tough one to love, but I do anyway.

Not a peep from the nephew who got and cashed a check for $50 nor from the parents of twins who received some really nice quilts and a large check for each of them.

Maybe they don't have stamps. Or my email. Or manners.

I'm over it. I didn't send the gifts for the thank you, but some days you get in a cranky mood when not a single one says thanks.

Actually, I brought a huge donation of several cases of food to my parish pantry yesterday and intentionally left it in the vestibule of the Church before Mass so that I wouldn't have the same issue with them or ~

"What is this stuff? (Food, you idiot!)

"Where did you get it?" (I robbed it from an old lady!)

"Is it expired?" (Yes, of course it is and whoever eats it will get botulism poisoning. Bwahahaha! You discovered my evil plan!)

About a month ago I gave a neighbor some tomatoes and raspberries from my garden. She sent me the most beautiful thank you note in a handmade card with a poem inside. I can't tell you how touched I was. I will tell you that I kept that one.

and to think, that's what we've moved away from! you did something kind and your neighbor in turn did something nice. it seems we're so busy thinking of ourselves and how busy *we* are that we don't take the time to adequately think of others. and our children have grown up thinking that's ok. it isn't, is it? forty-four cents and the price of a card can make a million bucks worth of difference!

I think we may be related! Every year I buy christmas cards.... I sign them, write thoughtful little notes, even address and seal the envelopes, some years I even STAMP them! but in 10 years only once have they actually made it to the mail box!! About 2 years after my wedding I found my thank you notes, done, in a box in my desk, waiting! Luckily it was all family, and they knew me when I was blonde.
