Okay here is a couple ideas I have been playing with and have another two in the works. Can't decide what I really want to do.

The first picture is my canning jar pin cushion. I love it. Can't find things I want to put in the jar but I think it has enough now.

Second is a little mini QUilt. Plain but I think it's cute.

I love the canning jar idea, cute. I am so glad it was hot outside yesterday, it gave me a good excuse to stay in and work on my postcard.
I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Great Ideas Owlvamp. Your canning jar is adorable.

I am having problems with mine. But, I will get them made soon as I am going out of town soon to see my grandson and new granddaughter. We wanted to go next month for my grandsons birthday. But, it is just not going to work out that way because of work. But, my daughter consented to let us come early and do a little pre-birthday with him. I can't wait. I will have internet at my daughters so will keep checking in!

I have to keep taking my own advice. I can't seem to make my ideas come out the way I want. Have had several failures. I will keep working on them through the weekend. I have to be ready to mail by Monday. That's when we leave.

Owlvamp, you could try clear vinyl on that canning jar. I was thinking of using it for an idea I have and I think it would work for yours too.

I will have to see if I can find some here. Don't want to purchase anything. Maybe can find an old bag or something. Thanks for the idea.

I have heard of using photo protectors (about the right size) or credit card holders or if you have one of those 'bags' that hold new curtains or bedding that you wouldn't care about cutting.

Pam P, I think that's a great idea to use plastic! And owlvamp, your canning jar is adorable! The plastic will make it just perfect!

I heard that some stores sell those protective clear envelopes 4x6. Are those the correct size? I would think they'd be fine for a 4x6 post card -- if they are a smidgen bigger than an actual 4x6. Or does everyone purchase larger sizes? I have never made one with embellishments, but I'm itching to do so -- but will need that clear plastic! I hope I can find them at Walmart or Staples, otherwise I'm out of luck!

Oh, hey, you can always cut up the clear plastic envelope, owlvamp, if you have those!

That clear plastic is a great idea. Love that canning jar with the pincushion. Such creativity.

I haven't been able to find the clear envelopes in any store that I have looked, not even the office supply stores. I buy the clear vinyl at Joanns but I think walmart carries it too. But even an old photo book might have an empty slot you could use.

I do not know of anywhere you can buy the clear envelopes. You can order them on Amazon.com. (If you wish to.)

You can mail your postcard without an envelope at all. I have received several that way. And, they arrived fine.

Or, you can put it in a regular envelope. Wal-mart sells boxes of 4 1/4 by 6 3/4 envelopes. (Or around that size.) I use these if I have a lot of poufy embelishments. Sometimes I will even use a small 4 x6 padded envelope. It depends on what is on the card. (This way, costs more!)

I also sometimes use the plastic photo sleeves that you can buy at Staples. The come in a package of 10 for around $5. You buy them in the photo section. Be careful to not go even a smidge over 4 x 6. I have even gotten ones with embelishments in them. (Beads, buttons, feathers etc.) I walk them into the post office, they put the stamp on and hand cancel. Put it back into plastic sleeve. It goes as a non-machinable item.

Hope this gives you some mailing ideas.
