Thanks for all your kind words, everyone. I grew up in upstate NY, so the territory was familiar to my mom. She's very healthy and adventuresome, but was concerned about possible road changes, rain, darkness after being away for 10 years. Then her plane was late, and well, just Murphy's Law. She can deal with change and emergencies, but after it's over then she becomes somewhat of a basket case. She's going to a family wedding and to see old friends. So many are passing away, she felt this was her last chance to visit with those that remain, and nothing could keep her away. I'm really proud of her - she works for the Food Bank out in the hot, humid Florida summer sunshine, filling, lifting, and carrying heavy food bags for the needy, among other volunteer work she does. The word "NO" is not in her vocabulary if someone asks something of her. Well, this is way more info than you all needed to know. I was just worried I would lose her and I'm not prepared or ready. That makes me so very empathetic with those of you who are close to your moms and have lost them already.
