I got started cutting for one set this morning. My monster is teething so while she's awake I get to work in fits and spurts. My poor snotty nosed booger machine. I'll be happy when she has all her chompers in.

Anyone else hate 7/8 measurements. I am going soooo slow measuring and cutting so I don't make any mistakes. I'm determined to make a good impression. Fractions were never my strong suit and my mat only has quarter markings so I have to use my 6x24 ruler to mark and then line up and cut. It bites the big one. My next set is going to be nice and simple with no 7/8 measurements. Lol

Yes Tfch8184, I also do not like 7/8" measurements. I hate to say it, I have been using the whole measure. Like instead of 3 7/8", I use 4 inches and then I use my "Patchwork Place" bias square to square up my half square blocks to the 3 1/2". This won't work in every instance but, it will work for half square triangles. I have to square up everytime anyway. So this takes care of MY problems. (It's just a teeny bit more waste.) But, to each his own.

Mariposa, Blocks are winging it's way to you.

Tfch8184, welcome aboard this wonderful winter snowman ride. i do the same as Judith most of the time on those HST, that way they always come out right and the points match. It takes practice and then you are going to be a master at it. Do the scant 1/4' on the 3 7/8 block and they will work out perfect.
Yes Mariposa, you come on over here and help. I need an assistant for the quilt show, Shekenah may have to go to church that night and no helper. Plus wanting to make sure I have all the Negative Space in my head and it comes out right to the audience. Just realized I have five customer quilts to get done, two runners, two donation quilts, and a t-shirt quilt to finish up and the wholecloth still sits on the longarm. Going to have to do some basting on it to take it off and do everything else and go back to it.
I am going to be making some star blocks for one of my sets, then have to find my pattern of the pieced snowman blocks, Mariposa, you can look for it for me. LOL
Love those applique snowmen! I was going to do the skiing snowman, glad I didn't yours looks so adorable Judith.

I have a stupid question. I'm gonna ask then go hide in a corner.

Do the blocks need to be fancy pants? I'm not that great at doing the fancier blocks and not having them turn out goofy. But I'm good at simplistic block.

Ok I'm gonna go hide now

Come out of that corner right now youngin. What is fancy pants? Is that a cool block pattern that we know nothing about? The block can be what you want as long as it is nicely pieced and measures the 12.5". That is what counts, quality not fanciful. There, now have some fun sewing and enjoy the process. We look forward to enjoying your work in our quilts.

Tfch8184, I'm also not sure what you mean by fancy, but, simple blocks are wonderful and really shine in a quilt also. So, bring on simple. I love to mix those in also. So, no corner sitting. Go play and have fun.

Thank you Quilty-Louise, they were so much fun to make, if I didn't have things to whip up for my Secret Santa, I probably could have kept making them up.

So sorry to hear about your furr babi. Enjoy the time you do have with her! *Hugs*

Thanks Owlie, I had to stop making blocks. I ran out of fabric to make them. I got one set of each. Thank goodness I had enough. I was pulling out of the scrap bin to finish. Whew, just enough.
