    Hi donna,
    Sometimes it is the thread. Even when it is brand new sometimes it is old lying around a factory too long. Or check the needle, some designs are so thick when you get to the details, it just breaks the threads if you don't change it out.

    And lastly... alas some designers aren't the greatest and the design is too much thread in one spot to be a good design.

    i would truly love to join y'all, but i am committed up past my armpits and getting in deeper-- and now my workhorse machine is on the fritz for the first time in 23 yrs! sheesh! just can't get quality, lol. i'm not panicking but i am worried! deadlines are creeping up! i am keeping an eye on what is coming in and just loving what i see! keep posting those pictures!! i am living vicariously!! thanks so much for making me feel welcome ! hopefully the next time!

    Puppy--you can do applique, paper piecing, traditional piecing. Whatever method works for you is fine!

    doing parer peicing would you want the paper left on or removed, i have a pretty flower that will be 3.5 when finished, so paper on or off?

    Maggie-for paper piecing, I'd say leave the papers on. It keeps things a bit more stable when sewing other blocks around it.
