I was thinking about leaving some squares as is and cutting some on the diaganol and sewing them together for a little bit of diversity. What do you think???

What is the width of the fabric (two blocks) and what is the size of one block...this will give me an idea of the size I can make the name panel you want to include. What is the finished quilt size?
When I know more about the individual sizes and the overall size you want, I can visualize more. I thought I had an abundance of red, white, and blue fabric but YOU win...

Hmmm...I'll measure the width tomorrow. The size of 1 block is about 10". The red/white/blue fabrics are 10-1/2". I was thinking between lap quilt and twin sized. Probably 60" x 70"? That "stash" is compliments of luvTooQuilt!!! I did her Stars & Stripes swap and voila! Plus I have red/white/blue fabric in my stash. :)

Isn't it wonderful? I'm making a quilt for William's teacher whose room he just moved out of. Her husband is retired military and BOTH of her baby boys are in the military, one is Air Force and the other is Marine. The one in the Marines is a Staff Sargent. She is so proud of both of them. The quilt is for Christmas. She is a wonderful teacher and has become an amazing friend that I absolutely adore. :) If y'all have any ideas on what to do...let me know. I'm at a design loss. The wonderful marybrace is trying to help me decide on an embroidery square for the middle of the square. ;) And luv, if I hadn't of done the swap, I'd be at a loss and scrambling to find red/white/blue fabrics for it. :)
