Good Morning Swappers! I just finished cutting 241 one-and-one-half inch postage stamps from vintage fabric (not repros...real fabric from the 50's & 60's!) that are going to go on my Dresden Plate quilt I'm working on...oh the feel and the smell of the fabric just intrigued me! Not to mention the look of all these from back in the day! Sorry I couldn't include any in this swap gals...I'm being extremely stingy...lol!

Heeey can't blame you at all!! I have some extremely old blocks that my brother in laws grandmother made way back early 1930's. So fragile and delicate but think of the hands so frail as she sewn them together in hope this quilt would keep her family warm. I'm a sap for sentiment!! :XD:

Hi Momma_K! Oh yeah...I had to be sooo careful when cutting the fabric...some was thin to begin with so I used spray starch before I cut them...these fabrics came from a sister of a friend of mine (both are deceased now)...the sister had started making Dresden Plates for a quilt and never finished them before she passed. My friend gave me the unfinished Dresdens and the fabric scraps she had left from them. I have finished handstitching the Dresdens and will put them on a quilt top in the near future. OMGosh I am getting such a hoot out of finishing what the sister started! (She handstitched the Dresden Plate pieces together...such patience and skill!).

By the way...how's your daughter mending? Well I hope!

Hope you don't mind...I'm putting you on my "Buddy List".

Goodness no I don't mind!! My first Buddy request, thats so cool!
Jessie is doing ok, I seen her earlier today as I took her boys to the Dr. She looks so tired but mending well. It'll still be a while that she walks again, she trys to put pressure on the foot but she's a big girl so it's going to be rough.

I just love the older things of yesteday, I take the squares out and feel as if I don't handle them with care they'll fall apart! I'm not sure what I'll do with mine yet but I do like to take them out and look at them once in a blue moon.

I never realized how different a small stamp looks compared to the full fabric it came from.
Did I explain that right?? LOL
