I have one question. Can the blocks be "fall" themed or does it just have to be winter? I know, but I had to ask.

I am so upset now, I finished 6 blocks for this and apparently they are 12 inches not 12.5 inches. My book that I have must not have added in the 1/4 inch seam allowance. Do I need to cut them down to 9.5 inches then? So upseting! :(

Why don't you trim them down, and add a border to bring them back to 12.5". This way they're still usable.

Bummer.... how do they look cut down to 9.5"? Otherwise I like the idea of adding a border onto them.

Just do the sides first then do the top and bottom. I would make them bigger than you want that way you just cut the square down, once the border is added, to the 12 1/2 inch.
