If you would like to sign up for the Winter Holiday or Christmas doll swap, please let me know by posting here or with a PM.

I will assign partners in two weeks on November 30. That will give you a couple of days to exchange addresses. (PM your address to the girls that get your name!)
Dolls need to be mailed NO LATER THAN Friday, December 4th.

Please thoroughly read this first post. There is a lot of important info. And PLEASE remember that COMMUNICATION is the key to a good swap.

There will be a couple of different things for this swap. I know some of us liked the regular doll swaps better than the dotee doll swaps. I'm not supposed to host one of each for each month because there are SO many swaps going on. I thought I could try to make this better by TRYING to pair up those of you that would rather do a regular doll and those of you that would rather do a dotee. Now, there are no promises, especially since my swap numbers seem to be getting lower, and we may have more requests for a certain type or an odd number, but I can try. Now, anyone can make either type of doll.
If you'd rather receive the same type you make (no 100% guarantee!), you need to let me know, AND everyone needs to let me know which type of dolls they will be making when they sign up. You may wish to make one of each...??
The other new thing I would like to do is an attached label. This can be a label made onto the doll or the doll's clothes or it can just be as simple as a paper tag pinned to the doll. The label (or tag) needs to have your screen name on it and the date. You may wish to add other info and/or details.
If you wish to particpate twice or make more than 2 dolls, you may. If you wish to only make 1 doll, you may. Add that info in your sign-up request.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

If you haven't participated in one of my swaps before, all I ask is that you read this first post and send your dolls on/before the deadline.

I don't send or PM a pattern. If you do a little research, there are many helpful tips and some patterns posted in some of the other doll swap threads (see bottom of this post for links), among many other places on the www. Just keep in mind the guidelines.

There is info for each type of doll below...

RULE #1: READ ALL THE RULES AND ALL OF THE FIRST POST OF THIS THREAD!!!!

Anyone with a no-send will not be added to the swap list.
You must be 18 years old or older to participate.
AFTER I assign partners, you need to PM your mailing info to the two members that will be making your dolls. Please do this promptly.

    "RULES":
    1. Thoroughly read this first post.
    2. If you have "no sends" (dolls not yet sent from previous swaps), complete those before signing up for another one. Lack of communication can look like a no send. A post needs to be made when you receive a doll from a member to let me know it's arrived and to say thank you to the maker.
    3. You make the dolls from start to finish. Please don't buy doll bodies or pre-made clothing--that isn't fair. They are a lot of fun. Everyone is on a different level.
    4. If you want to participate, make it clear in your post so I don't accidentally sign up an innocent by-stander! (yes, I did).
    5. It is not required that we send a gift (candy, fat quarters, threads, etc.) but a lot of members do, and it very nice. That's your choice.
    6. HAVE FUN!

This is a swap where you will make two dolls to be sent to two different participating members. You will receieve two dolls from two different members in return.

    NON-DOTEE (REGULAR-TYPE):
What/how: (for one doll) Take two 6 to 8-inch fabric squares--right sides together--and cut out your doll-shape. Sew, leaving an opening for stuffing, turn right-side-out. Stuff. Stitch shut. You may wish to draw a pattern on paper first, then trace onto the fabric. Each doll will be unique.
Or do it completely your own way, staying within the 6-8" requirements.

NOW GET CREATIVE! Add clothing, hair, buttons, beads, ANYTHING you desire! Most of all HAVE FUN!

These dolls don't weigh much, so they can be shipped pretty cheap. They will go first class in most cases, unless you are using something REALLY heavy in/on your doll.

Don't forget to take pictures of your dolls before you send them out. Post pictures of the dolls you receive, and of the dolls you make after they have been received by their new mommy.

I will assign partners in two weeks on November 30. That will give you a couple of days to exchange addresses. (PM your address to the girls that get your name!)
Dolls need to be mailed NO LATER THAN Friday, December 4th.

This swap is open INTERNATIONALLY...not just USA.

Be sure to remember to take pictures of the dolls you make in case someone you send to doesn't have a camera or a way to post pictures. DON'T post your pictures until after the recipient has gotten her doll so as not to spoil any surprises. I think it's neat to see photos of the doll in her original home and in her new home.

I will create a thread for photos of the dolls.
    Have fun!

    DOTEE DOLLS:
There is a lot of helpful info throughout this thread. This link will take you to page 4. Scroll down about mid-way, and you will get lots of info on Dotees. http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/45/18147.page

There is quite a lot of Dotee Doll fever going on out there in the world, so a basic Google search will give you plenty of inspiration.

Any restrictions on newbies? I'd be happy to do this, but I haven't posted much on the board. I'd understand if you were leery about that.

I would like to sign up. I have been off the board for a while and not heard of a dotee but they are so cute.
I would like to sign up to make one of those.

There are no restrictions on newbies, as long as you've read the first post, are over 18, and can get your dolls out on time. Let me know for sure if you want to join.
