You guys are all waaaaaaaay ahead of me. But I did give it some thought today and made this test block. It is 9.5 X 9.5". I don't care for the white stripe since the outside is white...so the colors will change. But I think I will definitely go with an ornament block. (The red is just to show the block since my counter is white.) should I eliminate the bottom white strip and move that space to the top so I could embroider a hook? Or leave as is?
I'm also working on a gift(s) block with adorable Santa "wrapping paper" and a big red bow. Not sure on size yet.

If time permits, I'd like to try a jar filled with Christmas candy and a textured Christmas tree. We will see.

Hi peg,
I really love your block. It is so nice. I would be tempted to replace the middle piece myself to another fabric so it shows up a little better. I like the bottom the way it is.

The other ideas sound wonderful! It will be fun to see them after hearing the description.

I'm amazed at all the beautiful blocks -- I'd be thrilled to receive any of them! I'm in progress on my first set and will try to post pics this coming week...

I am working on some snowmen blocks right now...applique...stitching them down and then I'll post a picture. That will give me 5 sets...not sure if I'll make 6 or call it good with 5. We'll see.

Well I finally finished stitching down all the star blocks and I am slowly working on the tree blocks since I have to do them layer by layer it's taking longer than I had hoped. Tracing and cutting out all those tiny snow drifts on the trees has slowed me down too. I have 2 more planned out and I am still working on figuring out my 6th set.
