I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet of my quilting books. The problem is remembering to keep it updated. Now there are so many, it's hard to find the one I want. Keeping by author name wouldn't completely solve the problem, because I can't always remember the author, or even the title.

I also did an Excel spreadsheet to catalog my Mom's (now mine) and my quilting magazines. That was one of the first things I did when I retired. Got all those puppies entered by magazine, by year, by month, by pattern and even put comments in there about whether or not I liked it, colors, etc. So happy I had it...used it a few times when someone needed a pattern or when someone mentioned a nice pattern. Yup....I could just look it up and determine whether I had it, where it was, etc. Wonderful.........until I got a virus that encrypted all my documents! Well, we all know NOT to call the number and NOT to pay any money to get things unlocked. I just set my computer back to the previous week's date ...The virus was gone, but the files were toast. But, I'm tenacious.......I will start entering those puppies again.....maybe this time, starting with the most recent year and then going back into history. Good thing none of my documents were "life or death" documents.....so it is easy to recreate. But, everyone who is cataloging their quilt library.......it's a good use of your time and you will be happy you've done it.
