I am under 5 ft now and I read in an article that the best height for a table is about 2 inches below you elbow when you fold you arm at a 90 degree...that way you won't smash your elbow into it and it is also a great cutting height...I used to use my kids ping pong table but it started to hurt my back...the taller one felt strange at first ..now it is fine...

I am 4'11" tall and my cutting board fits on my adjustable ironing table. My BF and quilting partner is 6', so this works out great when we sew together

I'm 5' 6" and this stand we made is perfect. I used to use my kitchen counter for cutting but now I can do it here with my smaller cutting mat. It is 35.5" high.

I saw the 2" rule and found it interesting, so I measured and the table is approx. 5" below my elbow. When I'm holding the iron it seems to be the perfect height.

I'm 6' in my stocking feet and my table is 35". For me, it seems to be a good height because I can push down while cutting. Maybe I am just used to things being low for me. I do take my shoes off when cutting or doing things in at the kitchen counter to put me down another inch or so.

I'm 5'-7" I have a kitchen counter top on base cabinets and the uppers also in my sewing room. The counter top is perfect. I bought a folding table at Joanns a few weeks ago and it is perfect for cutting and sandwiching quilts. No more aching back. I don't know how high they are and I have a longer body. My sewing room is now perfect for me. I can't really find a comfortable height chair, don't want a roll around chair. Too big and takes up too much room, would damage my hardwood floors over time. I use a wooden stool and take frequent breaks. I do side to side stretches and they help work out the kinks. I have a 2x4 foot long piece on a foam mat, that helps too.

Darn, I thought I was going to win the prize for tallest. I am 5'11" and my cutting table is 39" - I just checked and yep, it's two inches below my bent elbow.

Thanks everyone! I'm short-just about 5', so this gives me a great starting point.
