    Enjoy seeing your two ladders. I wondered if the steel wool and vinegar works. I was surprised at how dark it looks. I thought it would be more grayish.

    Adding to my comment, I have seen many quilt displays involving ladders. One was a friends assisted living apartment. She has 3 ladders in her tiny apartment but has as many as 20+ quilts on display and it doesn't look overdone. The complex has a 'gathering" room a guild leases and meets once a month. They have a quilt of the month that hangs in the dining room for all to enjoy.
