I hope you have an IKEA nearby ..... Mine is about forty minutes away. Their shipping costs are ridiculously high if you have to order online. Billy bookcases are about $60. To ship three of them to my daughter would have cost over $360 in shipping alone!

If you have a BiMart in your area try them for great furniture to use for quilting. I got two of those open box shelving units which my husband made into a huge cutting station. Very reasonable price and very sturdy. Come in white and dark brown. Now waiting for the price to drop on what they call a work station on locking wheels which will be an ironing station with open and closed storage underneath. Our store has frequent sales and service is outstanding.

Have fun with your new sewing room!! I really love setting up a new room, almost as much as I love using it!
I keep hearing IKEA is great but don't think there is a store anywhere in Alaska.

I've never heard of BiMart. IKEA is two hours away so doable. I have a huge closet so I don't need shelving, just a cutting station and sewing table. I have time so it's nice to get this input.

I checked their website, appears they don't have a store in Alaska.

A note on IKEA Billy bookshelves - they come in a deeper version now, which I was delighted to discover and that's what I bought for my sewing room. The standard bookshelf I think is just under a foot deep? The new ones are more like 15 inches deep. Same height & width as the standard bookshelves, so the doors and such fit either.

I was able to fit five of those into my sewing room, with doors...I LOVE those cabinets. I purchased extra shelves that were glass for I think $10 each; that's my UFO section. The glass makes it so I can put the shelves pretty close together but still see what's there.

A photo from when I was just moving into the room...it's a lot messier and fuller now but these are my Beloved Billy's.

I didn't buy the Martha Stewart, but did buy 2 dressers from Home Decorators...pricey for the quality, I was NOT impressed! They are usable, but after a year are sagging terribly

I've never heard of that line. We went for Pax cabinets with beadboard doors and put them all across a wall like the Billy bookcases pictured above. We were lucky to have an Ikea nearby.

Bi-Mart is unique to Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
