I ruler folded my fabric, it is in drawers. I didn't use any boards -- even the smallest pieces do just fine without boards. I didn't want the expense of buying the boards and didn't want to have to wait til I got to the store to get boards. When the urge to fold hit I just went with it.

Same here, and they are thin so they don't take up too much extra room. I use foam boards for my ribbon storage though. Not my rolls but the ribbon I have that isn't on rolls.

Years ago I found out about boarding my fabric on comic book boards, they are much less expensive than foam core and come in the perfect size. You just fold the fabric selvage to fold and fold it onto the board. You can get the boards in a packet of 100 for about $7, just search your local comic books stores online. Here are a couple of pictures from when I first boarded all of my fabric, lol somehow my fabric stash has grown. My mom and a couple of friends have also done this with their fabrics, it allows you to make your own "mini bolts" so there is no fabric on the bottom where you mess up the stack to pull out the bottom piece.

I also use a peg board for tools, such a great help. Finished quilt tops waiting for quilting are hanging on an over the door towel holder.

Ihave been using foam core boards for my fabrics for two years, plus I cut smaller boards for all my fat quarters also. Almost all of my fabrics are on foam core, with the exception of scraps, LOL. Just think this is the easiest way for me to see all my stash at a glance. Organized by color and holiday, i.e. Christmas, Holloween, etc. Takes alot of time to get the boards cut and fabrics folded, sorted and shelved, but so worth it. Oh, got all my foam boards at the Dollar Store. Now if I could just get the rest of the room organized!!!

Nice job on the organization. I guess I am mostly organized. I need to do better.

I use the comic boards. I get a 100 for 9.95. I can get up to 3 yards and make them look nice. Foam board is that inexpensive when you only get a few pieces.

I put mine on the boards as well but house them all in lawyers bookcases. I have them sorted by: children's fabrics, holidays, 30's, Civil War, and my regular fabrics are by color. Right now I have 3 large bookcases holding folded fabric, 1 holding my books and magazines and 1 small one holding new fabric waiting to be folded and put away.
