My Very Small sewing room
#33
We moved from Maryland to Phoenix and into a smaller house. My sewing room is 8 x 8 with a good sized closet. We are renters so limited in what we wanted to do in the closet. Just a couple of shelves that will be easy to remove.
The Handiquilter lives in an alcove in the living room. I use the Ikea cart for all the pieces to the current project I am working on. Once it is done, then everything gets put away. I use to pile stuff everywhere and get frustrated finding things ALL the time.
My ironing surface is half a piece of plywood that sits on top of a garage sale dresser. This holds a huge amount of supplies. The cutting surface is a kitchen cart from target. The sewing table belonged to my Mom. I ruler fold my fabric.
I am a very prolific charity quilter and have lots of fabric donated to me. I am fairly tidy and clean up after every project. I do not sew well in a cluttered. After dealing with a bunch of UFOs I am pretty much a one project at a time gal. I also did too many free BOMs last year and finally finished them all up.
I love spending time in there and work as a part time nanny. That leaves me plenty of quilting time.

lovestoquilt301 your room is to die for. You have done an excellent job making good use of a small space! I make prayer quilts for people that are suffering in some way. The whole expense is mine so how do you get fabric donated to you? That sure helps on the budget I'm sure. Fabric, batting, backing and now thread has really skyrocketed lately. Enjoy your time in that great room!

TenneseeSuze-----I used to get donations in MD from my guild. I was in charge of charity quilting. When members saw how many quilts I made---they started cleaning off their shelves.
In Phoenix it is sort of the same way. I also belong to a large charity group that has a huge amount of fabric. They are affiliated with a large church. Families find them somehow and donate fabric and other sewing things. We weed through all the donations and find homes for everything--sometimes just the Salvation Army. The church provides batting for the quilts donated through them.
