The height of the two stacked tables is 35 1/2 inches… then it gets a bit higher when you add whatever top you are putting on. For my work table I have the shelf liner, which is probably about 1/8 inch thick and then 1 inch plywood, so it's right about 36 3/4 or so… the ironing station is around the same but I used 1/2 inch plywood but the fabric stapled to the underneath gives it some more height too, so it ends up around the same.
The Lack tables are made of compressed wood particle wrapped with a pressboard type thing and then the outer finish. They are very lightweight but sturdy - I have had the work table for over a year and it's still like new.

How did you make the ironing surface? What is on the inside? I love your idea. Very clever!

Great! Doncha just love Ikea? I just bought a 3-tier kitchen cart that I'm using for sewing supplies when I decide to move into my kitchen to quilt. It is a sturdy metal cart with wheels.

I have a pressing table that's 30" x 60" and I love it! I put my cutting mat on one end and if I need the whole pressing board, I just move the mat. It's awesome.
