Well I didn't get the horizontal surfaces cleared last week so that will be my goal for this week.

I finished the top for my Gypsy Wife quilt yesterday. Then I emptied the desk I've been using for an outfield table, found room for everything in the filing cabinet and moved my sewing table back into place. Today I'll tackle the pile of scraps on the bar area, and get some boxes filled for good will.

My goal is to have DH hang up my pegboard above my sewing table that never got hung after moving my sewing room to my son's old bedroom 2 years ago, and then get the supplies that can be hung out of drawers and boxes -especially my machine embroidery supplies like hoops and stabilizers. I would also like to fold and organize some fabric that just got tossed in a basket. These are mostly my neutral fabrics like muslin and Kona snow that I use for backgrounds. (Note to self: In the future, label these so you know what you have!)
I also have a couple of more long-term goals that won't be accomplished in a week. My cutting table area needs some storage around it- either another pegboard, wall shelves or a cart- to keep things off of the table itself. I would also like to set up a "staging" area where I could keep supplies together for upcoming projects or projects that I have temporarily stopped working on, but don't want to put away completely. I tend to pile these things up on the back of the cutting table which often means having to move everything when I need to cut yardage.

Today is the last day of decluttering for a move in the spring. My fabric closet should be empty by the end of the day, my quilt books id' by the end of the day and wire shelves in my studio taken down.

I went to a workshop once where the instructor explained that some of us are like birds. We feel more comfortable building nests with our stuff around us. We like to see our stuff. This fits me until the nest just gets to be too much and I have to straighten it all out.

Today I am a 'tired' retired teacher. . Two days of subbing and a walk to raise funds for an inclusive playground on Sunday has seriously zapped my energy! But it sure was great to get back to subbing especially today where several students came up to say hi.

I am not making any organizing goals for the week as I want to finish a donation baby quilt top by Saturday and I need to get some computer work done for Make a a Difference Day for one of my volunteering places.

Reading all these posts really makes me feel like a neanderthal. I don't make organizing goals, let alone every week! Didn't know that was 'a thing'. I guess I'm just a slob. I work on what has captured my attention at the time and when I'm done, I put stuff back where it came from and make room for the next project. But setting goals to organize... every week.... does everyone do that? I don't even set goals for my quilting.

We took our mini-vacation Tuesday and are just grinning from ear to ear about the enjoyment of having been together, seeing the lovely countryside, meeting some nice people on the tour, and actually taking a journey which has been in our plans for a long time. The little town I lived in briefly some 45 years ago has really evolved from dumpsville to a clean and neat tourist area. I was really impressed! Well, given the refreshed state of mind and body from our mini-vacation, I feel as though I can take time to sew for enjoyment. One thing I will also do is make a fabric sleeve for a wall hanging and attach it to the Halloween quilt. While I'm at that project, I will make a roll of pre-made sleeving. This cuts my constuction time as the unit is ready to be quickly attached to standard wall quilts. It's so easy to cut the sleeve to size, finish off the raw edge at each edge and attach the sleeve to the wall hanging. I tend to use a good grade of perma-press musling for this item. Nothing really urgent this week. Relax, enjoy the moment and prepare the sleeves. Piecefully yours....
