I would be inclined to build shelves across one end of the room and then put up closet doors to keep the sun off, you can easily access the fabric but at the same time keep it out of sight.

I watch Craig's List and have gotten some good deals for the sewing room.

This is what I have, tall bookcases and I put lined curtains on the front. Well they really aren't curtains, I just took two pieces of fabric, right sides together and sewed and turned them and they aren't gathered or anything and I nailed them up onto the book cases. I was going to make roman shade type things but never got around to it and I can use these curtains for design walls too using pins.

I love the fabric cube storage myself. Plenty of options.

Check the IKEA recalls. You should secure bookcases etc to walls .

I love antique cupboards for storage. I just put an old 2 door cupboard in the sewing room. It emptied totes that were cluttering the floor.

How do you fold your fabric for the cubes? I usually do the 6" ruler folding

But for the size, kind of pricey even at Walmart and haven't seen anything like it at discount dollar stores.

I've found that even indirect sunlight causes fading. I have a wall of fabric baskets to hold projects. None of them are ever in direct sunlight, but after 12 yrs they are all faded slightly. You can tell when the baskets are turned around, the fabric at the back is the same as it was years ago, but the front is faded. The light and UV rays are reflected off the window blinds. I don't mind so much that the fabric basket is faded, as long as projects inside stay protected.

I use book shelves with sheets draped over the front to block the light...
