Kitchen cart for cutting area
I'm getting tired of having all my sewing stuff out on my dining room table, so I think I'm going to put together a sewing area in one of my guest rooms. I've seen a couple of suggestions about using a kitchen cart on wheels for a cutting area. I've looked at a couple online & like the ones that have some storage underneath. I like the idea of using wheels so I can move it around the space and get to the other side more easily when needed. Any suggestions?
Here are two I found online. The second one is a really good price, but is slightly smaller. Both have drop leafs that make them a bit bigger for quilt assembly. What do you think? http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...PCR&cid=214410 http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...PCR&cid=214410 Thanks for any suggetions! I was going to combine this with a small/medium desk to put my machine on & then some form of additional storage. It's not a huge room. Dana |

Go to Kmart or Walmart- buy those 6 cube or 9 cube storage units, depending on size of room, put them on wheels, there are pictures on here under mission organization of how members put them together and added a larger top & wheels to move around. Lots cheaper than those you have listed. This was made by a lady's friend for her. You can make it smaller if needed or larger if you want. Storage in the middle if you do the second one.

My only suggestion if you go with either of those carts....make sure the wheels lock. You don't want to pressing down while cutting something and have the cart squirt out from under you!

Those are nice. And you really need to be sure the wheels lock. I really like the one with the towel rack on one end and the shelf on the other. (Thinking about hanging those strips as they are cut and a place to set those tools out of the way.)

How tall are you? There is a five inch height difference in the two cabinets. I am not too tall but have long legs and like a tall cabinet. My son built mine. Lovely boy!

We bought discontinued base cabinets for a kitchen, one had a door the other drawers and put a piece of counter top on them, perfect height.

When we renovated our bath we saved the bathroom vanity and added a top to it along with 2 additional split leaves on a piano hinge with removable legs. Topped it off with a laminate cover. Total cost was about $50.00. It works great. So if your DH is handy you might try looking on Craigslist for a vanity that some is wanting to get rid of.

No matter which way you go, purchase or hand-mde, get the bigger top!
