For garage and estate sale finds, I use a plastic shoe box. For the special ones that I actually purchase for a project, I keep in the organizers with little drawers.

I store my buttons in "Spice Jars"...I have some that rotate and some that are on racks...they are colorful and very handy!!

I collect buttons as well as use buttons and they are in everything and everywhere.lol It is not good to put old plastics together in a tight container, this is bakelite and others, they will have a chemical reaction and get ruined.

I have a 12 or 16 drawer hardware organizer that I have used for button storage. It's small enough for a tabletop, it was designed to hold screws and nails and such.

Mine are in a pretty decorative round tin. They have some pretty ones out there.

Different jars by color is what I use. I pick them up in thrift stores or use empty jelly jars (homemade) For small amounts of a color I use the clear plastic stacking containers from Walmart that is used for beads. They fit nicely in a drawer and I can see what I have.

I use a storage box that has little drawers in it, presumably meant to hold nails or screws. I sort by colors, metallic, animals and other novelty styles. Look around at the various storage bins available at JoAnn's or Home Depot...something will catch your eye. It's also helpful to use a label maker to ID the contents of each drawer.

I use decorative tins for some. Most of my buttons that are quite similar (and I have lots of those) I use cleaned speghetti sauce jars that I have removed the labels from. They are see thru and I think they look pretty rustic with all the fabric and other crafty things. The buttons that I have alike, I string on to thread and then if I want that button I know what color, size, type and how many quickly without going thru all of them. I have several jars so I have a button for about any need.

I had mine in a beautiful antique mason jar. When my DGD dropped and broke it I switched to a wooden cigar box.

I took the labels off Starbucks little bottles. They look like mini milk bottles.
I store my buttons by color so it's real easy to see what color to grab.
They are in a drawer now but would be cute displayed on a sturdy shelf.
