DH rolled in the suitcase at the meeting yesterday. Should have weighed that sucker...lol. PL helps us out with leftover fabric. What fabric is left they take. I don't know where it goes but as long as not back to my house I'm OK! Carefully fondled fabric but only brought home 3 cuts of tiny prints on white. Will use them when I start my scrappy log cabin quilt.

Had notions to get rid of but only half found new homes.

Our coordinator has over 1,000 quilts in her house. She's not getting requests so she said only 2 donations per member. In one month I gave 7. 2 were quickee since I started with a panel. Now I have to find another outlet. Thinking about fire dept and/or police.

With this last donation, I have only 1 container to sort and it's all floral. Have a different guild meeting Thursday. Just may load up the suitcase one more time.

I want a workspace like Donna Jordan of Jordan Quilts.

This is my favorite thread. It is so encouraging to get things done.

I was inspired by so many of you to start my own organizing journey, so yesterday morning I dug out all (edit: most - I suddenly remembered I had a box of flannels I forgot to look at) of my boxes of fabric and dumped them out on my bed. I told myself I wouldn't go to bed until they were all neatly organized and back in boxes. I _almost_ managed this - there are two small piles of "where should these be filed" pieces, but otherwise things are looking much better and I have a much better chance of being able to find what I want. I have also learned that I really don't need any more fabric and am going to hopefully be able to share how I have dealt with this issue on the Fabric Moratorium thread one day.

This is not absolutely everything - I have a couple of linen bags (the things you get new sheets in) with some curated colour combinations and the aforementioned flannels are still to be addressed, but I wanted to share because it just feels good to be able to see my stash so clearly (for now)!

Looks great, Gemm!

It’s so much fun reading about everyone’s progress. I’m saving up inspiration from y’all for when the surgeon releases me to pick up more than 15 pounds. Then I’m going to tackle decluttering some of the old electronics we have laying around, and maybe my art supplies…

Love it! Love it!
I did something similar with my FQ and long scraps (1\3 yds or less) at the beginning of Covid. Everything got pulled out, wrapped around 5" Sq cereal box cardboard and then sorted by color. So much easier to know what I have now. And it really is easy to KEEP UP with, now that you've done the big work. Sure it will go to pot when your life goes haywire at some point . But then next month you'll sit down spend an hour and it will be back in shape.

It really is so much more useful when I can just pop my head in and see what I have. I just wish I was more skilled with color planning.

Oh /Gemm, good job. Couple months ago I bought 2 doz plastic with clear lids shoe boxes. Took several days away from my sewing machine to sort fat quarters and most of the charms by color. DH was clearing out the garage and I took two of the metal shelf units for "display" of my fabric.

You are gonna love shopping your stash. So easy to find what you want and helps with inspiration, too.

Had another good day at my friend's house. She was laughing at me humming "look at all the treasures" as I started moving things around in the back bedroom... it's not the usual reaction she gets from her daughter and others. We've done really great downstairs. Today is our only scheduled day this week. There are doctor appointments and fun things to do as well for the rest of the week.

In my own home, I'm doing less work but I'm still progressing. Mostly in non-quilting areas of the house -- as if there were such things! But mostly with CDs and entertainment electronics. I really need to prioritize better vinyl album storage/different media center than I currently have. We have the $12 flat screen I bought at auction connected with the cable. Still need to buy two new thick screws to mount the wall arm, but we have the stud marked and it is on the to-do list. Had to return the old no-def box for a hi-def box and also took another mostly unused tv off cable completely. Did a couple of changes and while we still have a hefty bill for cable/internet/phone, reduced the monthly costs by about $25 a month which adds up over a year. So any time we can find more quilting money -- that's an organizational win!

Rearranging fabric to me is therapy, because I get to Pet The Fabric.

Love the organizing being reported on this thread.

Iceblossom: I reduced my cable cost also. I removed my home phone and am using a Firestick for my sewing room tv. A cable employee suggested that knowing I wanted to reduce my bill more. Like you said, it’s still expensive but saving more adds up.

I have been organizing in my sewing area. Mainly, trying to clean off a table. In my office, I went through stacks of a mixture of old printing paper and colored paper which was sitting on my printer stand. Some of it was too wrinkled to go through the printer. Other pieces were colors I couldn’t use because they were too dark. No clue why they were in the stack along with lined paper. Probably was just convenient to put it all there somewhere along the line. Eventually, the printer will be moved from the desk to the stand. 🙂
