Default Rails on my cutting table

My husband is always thinking of ways to make my sewing room better for me to play in.

He came up with this idea after he bought those two speed squares for me. We went to Home Depot and bought two sticks of aluminum which were 48 inches in length. He cut one at 18 inches and left the other one at it's original 48 inches. He fastened the pieces onto the edge of the cutting table flush with the top of the cutting mat. So now my O'Lipfa 4-Inch-by-36-Inch Lip Edge Ruler has a better grip and won't slip, I can make 45 degree cuts too.

One the last photo, you can see another tape ruler adhered to the table itself. This is Kreg KMS7724 12 Self-Adhesive Measuring Tape (Left-Right Reading) normally used in a shop type setting. I got the idea of using it when I installed one on my husbands table saw.

Thanks for the compliments. I will be sure and pass them along to my husband.
Yesterday he went in and lightly sanded the corner where the two metal pieces met. I was supposed to do it, but as usual I get off into my own little sewing world and forgot.
