Sounds like it has been working out for you if you've been sewing there for 6 months! Seems a shame to leave a perfectly good room unused except for a few events a year.

Mine is in an area between the living room and dining area walk thru. My sewing table fits perfectly. I have propped a mirror on the table and I can watch tv the whole time (I live alone). My friends love to see what I am working on and whether messy or organized I love seeing it when I walk by.

Go for it -- it sounds like the perfect room for you to use! Lots of good suggestions here -- I usually try to clean up my sewing area after each project so it doesn't get too out of hand but what the heck -- it is my hobby and if it gets messy too bad. Good luck with your new room!

If you've taken it over for six months, try a year and see if maybe this is the year you want to pass the hosting baton, clear it off for the holidays , or keep things status quo.

That's what I did. We have a table in our kitchen and we hardly ever used our dining room for its purpose. The only thing that we would do is pile crap on the table. So, I have made it a full use room!

I have my long arm in my "dining room" and my sewing studio is in "living room". We use the eat in kitchen as our living room. Do whatever fits your lifestyle.

I was going to say that's what room dividers are for, but I like ManiacQuilter's idea better.

A room folding divider would be pretty and could be moved easily to access the room.

Do whatever you feel like. I have a room I can dedicate to sewing and I still drag everything to the dining room table when I am working on a project. There is something about being in the main living area that makes me feel better about spending so much time on a project.
