This looks fabulous, Dunster! I think this would be a great way to store my fabric. It is so much easier to select a fabric without having to lift off tons of unwanted pieces to get to the one on the bottom!

It looks wonderful. I've used a few hundred comic book boards. I never realized that there was a difference
in the size of the magazine boards because I never did any research on them. From now on I will look into
that. Goodness, you could be a fabric store yourself.

I use cheap thrift store book cases for all my fabric except for fat quarters and scraps. The tall book case has regular size bolts on the bottom for anything over 3 yds, then comic boards on the upper shelves for 1 to 3 yds. The 3ft white book case is also 1 to 3 yds on comic boards. I need to put another shelf in it. The other 3ft book case is comic boards cut in half and hold anything bigger than a quarter yard but less than a full yard. FQs are folded alike and stood on end like files in drawers so they're easy to see. Sorry the pic is sideways, had to turn the camera trying to get a good shot of the closet.

Can anyone tell me if it was worth all the time to fold and clip your fabric? Do you find that it is easier to find fabric in your stash? Does it make you think of new projects? Motivate you to quilt more? The idea of doing a rehaul seems daunting.

Yes, it was absolutely worth it to me. It's much easier to find what I want, easier to organize by color, easier to take it off the shelf and put it back. The shelves stay so much neater. It did take time, but it also gave me a chance to review the fabrics in my stash.
