Usually when I am making a quilt, about 2/3 of the way done, I don't understand why I thought it was a good idea. One of the inducements for finishing it is that I get to clean up my studio, put away fabrics and beads and paints and get orderly. That really works. My best organizing idea is to use deep shelves for fabric, plastic storage, etc. I have lots of fat quarters ruler folded and stacked by color. A friend looked at it and said that was a work of art. Order makes me feel good.

Sally S- I can sooo identify with the 2/3 way done thing . Sometimes I get bored if there is a lot of tedious parts- whether piecing, or thread painting, etc. Sometimes I'm having fun and don't want it to end- ruler quilting, fmq, etc. Sometimes I'm stuck and just can't figure out where to go next with a piece. I like your idea of the inducement to help motivate a finish. A nice neat studio sounds perfect-- not that I would have thought so several years ago before I joined this thread and learned how much more relaxing it is to be in my studio when I can find things LOL!

You guys are really rockin the organizing. I've been absent a few weeks cuz I've been working on landscaping....which is organizing in a way. So exciting...

Teen, I love the idea of landscaping as a form of organizing. Maybe thinking of it that way will help motivate me to work on my yard and garden LOL! Going to check out the Create4less site, not that I need anything, mind you, but I always love looking at storage and organization stuff.

Today, I'm "organizing the quilting" on a UFO-- if I think of it that way, maybe I'll be motivated to get it done LOL.

Me, I'm creating chaos! I'm working on a wonky star quilt using wasted triangles I organized 18 months ago when I declared 2019 the year of the triangles. Ah organization pays off! I have 3 more vertical rows to sew then I can put the whole thing together...stay tuned!

I am in the process of purging kitchen cabinets. I don't entertain or bake as much these days so time to pass some of this stuff on to someone else. I also organized the UFO pile.

crkftiladi- glad to hear you were able to tackle both the kitchen and the UFO pile. Those are the two most difficult spots to declutter in my house. How did you organize your UFOs? I'm still looking for a viable way to organize UFOs and WIPs so they're not completely out of sight out of mind (UFOs) or strewn over every surface in the quilting studio (WIPS).

I spent 4 hours this morning with a great niece and her distance learning. She only had a few things we needed to solve. She basically talked them through with me because she knows more than I do about Zoom and Schoology. I took my boxes of squares that I wanted to sort from my marathon scrap organization a few weeks ago. I trimmed when necessary to sizes I wanted and put them in bags by size. When I got home and after a long nap, I put the squares away. Who knew that multi tasking (listening to the teachers on distance learning and sorting/trimming the squares) was so tiring! It felt good to be out and about though.

I use clear 12 x 12 scrapbook containers when I first start organizing new project-cut pieces & coordinating fabrics as the ufo gets bigger I have a tote under my cutting table that they get stored in. I used to be pretty anal and not have too many ufo's going on at once-gee where did THAT lady go,,,,lol
