14th Annual Quilt Across Texas Sept 1 - Sept 30th
#12
The website is www.quiltacrosstexas.com. It says: The Guide will be available at all participating shops for $5 and will contain a $5 coupon that is redeemable at any of the 90 shops. The Guide can be purchased from any participating shop after June 1, 2011.
View the prizes here.
I got mine at my local store today. You could use the website to find where you'll go first and just pick the booklet up at your first stop.

This sounds like so much fun, but to far away. I've done a few shop hops. I even plan my own personal shop hops when the shops don't have one planned. LOL I've found a few new stores (to me) this year.

Our group WAS planning to do this hop, at least in our region ... but it is REALLY spread out - from Corpus Christi to Houston to Nederland (Beaumont E TX area) !! It's over 200 mi just ONE way to C Christi from Houston, and it's 100 mi. east to Nederland. Plus there's only ONE shop actually IN Houston, out of a dozen+ LQS here ?? I don't get it ...
By contrast, the region NW of Houston is MUCH smaller, Austin to Bryan TX ... max of 80 miles to any of their shops. I don't understand how they divided this up ?

TexasGurl - I thought the same thing. We also have 3 - 4 more shops to get to than most regions. Still trying to figure out a way to get it done, but ... doesn't look like it. I'll do the ones I can get to and remember that I NEVER win prizes anyway! There can be two door prizes with three people in the shop and ... guess what?
To the block question: You can purchase the Texas panel that Debbie showed in her original post. It's available starting September 1. Then at each shop you will get a pattern for a block - "At each stop along the way you will be given, absolutely free, a different 6" sampler block pattern. Use these blocks to make a quilt that will commemorate our very first annual event." Moda has designed other Texas fabrics that will be available for purchase. If you create your own design using at least 50 different blocks and submit a photo of your quilt by December 31, 2011 you will be entered in a drawing for a $100 shopping spree at Stichin' Heaven in Quitman, TX.
So ... I'll do our local one - El Campo, probably Port Lavaca and Victoria. Richmond for sure - it's close. Then when I go to a wedding 9/24 I'll stop in the one in New Braunfels - it's not in our region, but I love that shop! As I said - this Working Thing really gets in the way of my life! I do hope it remains an annual event. That's something I'll look forward to when I retire!
Edited to add: I seriously could do the Hill Country region or the Austin - Dripping Springs, etc area easier than my own. There are 11 shops in the Hill Country one and one is even open on Sunday. Two are open until 6:00 on Friday. If I did some on Labor Day weekend and the rest when in the area for a wedding - might be possible!

I've been looking forward to this since I first heard about it at the beginning of the summer! I love the "vibe" during a shop hop. The stores almost vibrate with excitement. :)
Since I do work and even have a part time job after my fulltime job there have been several hops that I've just gone to my local shop - picked up a passport and whatever the gift was there, waited to see who won the next door prize, absorbed some of the excitement and that was it.
You're right, TexasGurl, this will be fun no matter what part we get to do.
