Fiber art Quilt Open House in Marion Montana

Mrs. J. Hartry will be hosting the first Flathead Valley open house for Helena, Montana fiber artist Linda Parker on Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday, October 5, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. This showing will be held at 450 Idaho Hill Road, near Marion. Purchase opportunities will be available.
Ms. Parker, the author of Montana Star Quilts, has been crafting quilts, bags and other items for over 40 years, and has presented at the Smithsonian Institution of Art and other art venues. She first learned quilting from her grandmother and polished her star quilt techniques initially by quilting with Jerry Belgarde, a Turtle Mountain Chippewa living in Billings. On display will be her renowned fine art quilts, including her fire quilts, some of which represent over 600 hours of handcrafting. Also being shown are her bed quilts, coil baskets, hand-felted handbags, and iPad and kindle covers. (Linda begin to get requests for kindle covers at the Helena Farmer's market this summer, and the covers work perfectly with some of the vintage fabric she has rescued.)
