Hi everyone - I can spend hours upon hours on the board and you are all so helpful. Four of us quilting buddies are doing a road trip from Southern Ontario to Bird-in-Hand in PA - leaving on the 29th for 5 days. Could you let me know all the really good quilt shops on our route? We are crossing the border at Fort Erie and pretty well travelling a straight line to Lancaster. Thanks a bunch!

I bought a book that lists many of the quilt shops in the US and Canada. Got it at my LQS this spring. Just send me a pm if you would like the title. It's with our campground directory out in our travel trailer. Since you are doing an extensive trip it might be worth the cost and trouble to purchase the book. We regularly travel to Lancaster PA and there are many wonderful reasonably priced quilt stores in that area. Have fun! How are you going to get all of your purchases home?

Down the road from Bird in Hand is Intercourse, PA, and you need to visit the Old Country Store. The town is a little too touristy for me but the prices are better than here in Reading.

Right down from the Old Country Store is Zooks. Prices anywhere from $6 to $7 or so a yard at both places. You may want to check out Sauders and Burkholders which are very close to where you'll be too. Actually that whole area, Lancaster, Kutztown, Bird in Hand,Intercourse has really great prices on fabric. You will definitely enjoy the area. Friends and I were thinking of heading there that same time you uys will be there. Maybe we could meet for lunch.

I will be in Intercourse on August 30. I am meeting at least one (and maybe more) board members from PA there for the day. It would be awesome if we could all meet for lunch! I am leaving home on the 22nd so it might be hard to connect after that, but let me know if it might work for all of you.

I am from Paradise, Pa. Search Google and find Pa. Dutch Country. When you get to Lancaster, take route 30E to Greenfield Road exit and stop at the Pa. Dutch Visitor's Center. There you will find all the help you need to find yourself around and not find yourself "befuddled", as the Amish would say..... Have a great time. You're gonna love it!!! Jackie C

Coastinest listed all the great places in the area, but Sauders is my all time favorite place. We go to the area every year and would never miss Sauders. I always come home with a camper load of fabric.
