It would be great if you showed a picture or two of your zipper method! I have a love/hate relationship with zippers.

It is really very simple but it's about 3/4's of making the bag. You do tabs on the ends, sew it between the lining and face fabric, topstitch, sew the face fabric together being careful not to catch the lining. Then you sew the lining making sure that you don't catch the tab.

This is why I want some good pics to go with instructions. It's a flowing process which is how I can make so many in a day.

I have my pattern down to where I don't even really have to measure or think too much. I know that it needs to be exactly 6" between the tab ends and the center of the zipper needs to meet the center of the fabric and the rest goes like butter.

So, the zipper will be cut down to be 6 inches and that's what the tabs do?

The exposed part of the zipper is 6". I use any size I have and, if there's enough left over, I might use it as piping for a pocket or something. For larger bags I use home dec zippers. I buy long lengths with multiple pulls.

The tabs eliminate bulk in the corners so they can be turned with sharp corners.

Okay, I think I understand. I am a visual learner so I'm looking forward to a picture!

Is it too early to start stressing about what machine to bring? 221, 222, one that zig-zags, one with fancy stitches, serger so I can do the edges of the fabric I buy?

Does anyone else stress over forgetting something and being left "stitchless" for the entire time?
