"Home Sewn Quilts" from the Lower Mississippi Valley
There is an exhibit of four quilts by three Mississippi women _ sisters Annie Dennis and Emma Russell and their friend Effie Bates Cooper which represent patterns and techniques passed down through five generations. The exhibition draws on oral histories to bring and African-American quilting community to life. The exhibit is open through Sept. 21 at the Anacostia Community Museum at 1901 Fort Place, SE, Washington, DC 20020. Included in the collection are a hexie quilt and a 9 patch variation.

I think I just finished quilting a "hexie" quilt for a friend of mine in Texas. Is it little pointed stars that are all joined together? That quilt turned out beautiful. I'll try to find the pic my son made of it and post it. But not today, I don't have any GKs due to come over and help with my housework.
