Registration continues for quilting marathon in September
Registration is still open for an upcoming quilting marathon being organized by three sisters that live in the area. The marathon will produce Wartime Quilts, or Quilts of Valor, that will be donated to service members and veterans. The first session of the marathon will be Thursday, September 9 to Saturday, September 11 from 6 a.m. to midnight each day at the Drury Inn in O'Fallon. Anyone with quilting, piecing, binding or longarm quilting experience is invited to attend. Anyone wanting to quilt is asked to bring their own sewing machine and materials to the event. Patterns for quilts are available for no charge at qovf.org and amazinggracefulstitches.com. The next weekend, the quilt tops will travel to West Plains, Missouri to be put together using the longarm machines at Gammill Quilting Systems in West Plains, Missouri. Anyone with longarm, binding or hand stitching experience is invited to come from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 16 to Saturday, September 18. A few of the quilts finished will be kept and donated to soldiers at Scott Air Force Base, and the rest will be given to the Quilts of Valor foundation to be distributed to soldiers around the country. To register for the quilting marathon or for more information, please visit amazinggracefulstitches.com or call Rhonda at 228-7277.

Wish I could partake of this. Have heard about it at my guild and a scrap group I belong to. Sounds like a wonderful endeavor.

Oh! I am so glad you heard about it! We can't do EVERYTHING we want to do. I am hoping I can go, I made reservations but it depends on how my husband is doing by then.
