Paducah 2013 Quilt Show Anyone?
Who's going to Paducah 2013 quilt show this year? This will be my 1st year to go and I am excited. I so wish I could find someone to share a room with on Friday night but most ladies out there husbands will not let a guy quilter share a room with their wifes even though I have no interest in women . Is the show worth going too?? I am huge Eleanor Burns fan and would love to see her in person. Thanks Stefen In Nashville

So glad you are coming to Paducah. It is a great show. Eleanor Burns usually has a free show a couple of times each day that is worth seeing. Be sure and go to Hancock Fabrics, Quilt in a Day store downtown and her other location. It has been located at Carson Park for the last several years. There is also a great shop that comes in for the show located across from the Quilt Museum. They always have some really good buys. Hope you enjoy your trip to the show.

If you want to see Eleanor Burns in person, go to Carson Park. usually Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday,
she has free shows - 3 times a day. If you want reasonable fabric prices, make sure to visit the tent at Carson Park
for the last few years the fabric has been $5.00 per yard and each day they have the color of the day - .50 cents
off per yard for that color. If you go to the tent, ask for Barb or Bev we will be down there working for Eleanor.
She usually has fabric at her warehouse location, plus her store downtown. Have fun.

This is my 3rd time going-staying in Metrpolis-at Harrah's-I live in Murfreesboro-I booked last November for a room-they go fast-sorry my husband will be going with me, so not available-but the drive isn't bad-we usually go for 1 day-leave early come home late-this time I was hoping for some classes-but didn't find any of interest, so will go to Carson Park for the show, and vendors at the show, and shopping downtown-Go it's worth every bit of you time

I'm going for the first time myself so all will be new for me. I made my reservations over 8 months ago and still have to stay over the river. I'm hoping when it gets closer to the time we can arrange to have fellow quiltboard members meet somewhere at the show. Sorry can't help with the room.

I went to it last year and had a blast. A friend and I got there the Sunday before and did some shopping and visiting musems and such. We stayed at her sisters and we had a blast.
I spent the largest amount ever at Hancock's (so they told me) at the tune of almost $2200 worth in one visit. I went crazy in there buying but all well worth it. All of it was purchased of their sale tables. I bought a ton of batik, florals, kids materials and more to use and also donate for charity quilts in our area. They loved me so much they escorted me all over that store. Even had a worker escort me to and from ladies room. It was a hoot!
I also spent at the Babylock booth at the show and got the Evolution Serger and Embellisher. I negotiated with them to get it at near the price I was paying. CASH TALKS! Retail value of both machines was almost $4300 and I got it for $2100 and some change. That savings allowed me to buy all the fabric I wanted.
You had to be there to see me finding nooks, crannies, holes in my SUV to bring all that fabric back and also my GF's. She had spent probably about $700 on fabric herself. We did manage real well though.
I hope to be able to go again this year if everything goes well here. Right now I have my granddaughters living with me and hopefully by time it comes around they will be back with there parents. This year I'm interested in the Babylock embrodidery machine. Not sure which model yet though but probably middle range of there higher priced one. I already have the cash put aside for that one. Started putting money back when I got back last year from Padauch.
But if I don't make it there I will do my best to attend the International Show later this year somewhere else in the country which is probably what will happen since I do have my heart set on going to at one of those more so than Padauch since I've already been to Padauch.
