Sorry to say that we are going to take a pass due to the weather. Not to say it will be bad during the show but we were going to stay in a campground at LBL and really haven't had the weather here to even get the RV ready.
The high number of tornadoes this year just kind of made us say that we'd stay home in the brick house and not in the RV in a rural area. Wednesday was going to be our travel day and it's supposed to be a bit rough so we decided this morning to cancel the campground resi and stay home.
There's always next year :-)

It is a 6 hour drive one way for us, but we go every year. We are north of Springfield Illinois and stay in marion Illinois. Its cheaper and only a 45 minute drive to Paducah on the interstate. we are staying 2 nights this year.
Have they got the big white tent thing up yet?

Oh yes, the 'big marshmallow' is up and everything is looking nice. The storefronts downtown have quilts in the windows and everyone is polishing and sweeping. I was at the Museum on Tuesday and there were several groups of folks already in town waiting for the doors to open.
Everyone needs to visit the Amish store downtown. I know most of you are aware of the Amish children that were drowned during a flash flood a couple of months ago...their mother turned to quilting to help deal with her loss. The proceeds from the quilts will be used to fund their school. She joined a group of women who made these quilts and friends are selling them during the show.
ssgramma: When I was in college, we made the drive from Murray State to WKU several times to go to concerts...WKU had waaay better artists!(saw James Taylor there)We thought nothing of driving over and back...but we were decades younger then too!

The Amish store is Downtown on Broadway. Here is the TV story about it:

Everyone keep current on the Paducah news the next couple of days...we've had vast amounts of rain and flooding. They are even looking into contingency plans for the Quilt Show...the convention Center is behind the floodwall (I would really like to know who was the genius that decided to do that!) and they are having to close it to protect Paducah..not sure what is going to happen yet...they're supposed to all meet this morning to discuss.

Oh my, I hope y'all stay above water and that the Show can go on! I'm glad about our decision due to the weather. We stayed at an RV park in Paducah 7-8 years ago in the "deluge/soggy season" and that did influence us in deciding to stay home. It's wet enough over here and we live on high ground.
melodyr: Decades ago we would have done it too. Now we are wiser and lazier LOL
