Pretty!
It's only going to sleep 8 unless beds are shared. And that hasn't been popular in the past.

cbridges22 07-26-2011 10:26 AM

I am all for staying where we did last time!Karen, when can you go?I know the 1st. of Nov. was bad for you. 2 DOODS some shared beds last time and it worked fine.

quilttiludrop 07-26-2011 10:39 AM

My anniversary is October 31st. My DH would be offended if I took off with a bunch of quilters instead of him! :-)

KarenBarnes 07-26-2011 12:26 PM

That's a nice property! I'm okay with sharing a bed but I also have a blow up bed! The biggest challenge is whether they allow extra people.

At the moment (I think!) I'm only booked for the weekend of Aug 12th, the last two weekends in Sept and the first Sat in Nov. Otherwise, I'm open! With a family the size of mine, things could change at any time! :)

Carol posted a get together the Sat of Labor Day weekend, anyone going to that?

quiltingnonie 07-26-2011 02:16 PM

The lodge at Silver Creek Falls does quilt retreats. They have small cabins, but a full dining room. And there is Cascade Basketball Camp on the N. Santiam River, and they rent out for quilt groups except during summer bball camp. Greenbaum's Quilt shop in Salem hosts retreats there. Also, we rented a great house in Depot Bay for my DD's wedding. Slept 16 if I recall. I'll dig up the info.

I plan to go to Carol's on Sept. 3rd IF daughter is not having baby#2. Her due date is Sept 1st, but baby#1 was two weeks early. Other dates I am not available: 1st week of Oct for VEGAS w/best friend! Oct. 15th - Jimena's 1st birthday...and you KNOW Grandma can't miss that!

Wine Woman 07-26-2011 03:03 PM

The house is so cute! The walk to the beach will keep me healthy! And of course the company will be great. Looking at the schedule its not available until the third weekend in October and the weekends in Oct are good as well as early November. Anthing after the first weekend is too much since our biggest event in November right before thanksgiving. And I'm the one to arrange music, catering, etc for the event!

I'm trying to go to Carol's but that's another big weekend for us. Will know as it gets closer.

Thank you Cindy for looking for all of us!

cbridges22 07-26-2011 03:09 PM

Do we need to start a new thread for this so others would see it or what?

KarenBarnes 07-26-2011 03:18 PM

Hmmm exclusive, us? :)Part of me says yes and part says no!

There is a place near Rockaway run by Quakers (I think)that I stayed at years ago. They have a lodge setup with bunks and kitchen on the sides and a great room in the middle. If we're going after camp season, there are always lodges at Campfire outfits that might be available. Not at the beach but quiet!

That sounds interesting. We could still drive to the beach for a stroll? Is it anywhere close?
There are a couple of places in Seaside too. Ocean View Inn sleeps 15 and Gateway Inn sleeps 15.
It doesn't say there is a casino near Seaside~might that be a problem?

Here is another idea too:
(Quilters have been there)

Same place on Craigslist:

And there is this one:

Where we stayed last time is 175 a night. The Astoria property is 99 a night both great rates.I need to know how many are interested so we know how big we need.I would say either the last w/e of Oct. or first w/e of Nov.

Colbaltjars62 07-26-2011 04:21 PM

Raising hand: One

KarenBarnes 07-26-2011 05:36 PM

last weekend of Oct I could probably swing but not the first of Nov!

I really like the last property that Alice posted! We could have lots of fun with the wildlife! :)

Here Is a website I found that has large rentals.

http://www.beachcombersnw.com/large_group_rentals.php

not sure what the budget is.

quiltingnonie 07-26-2011 08:20 PM

WOW, loved the Surf Pines in Gearhart! But kinda spendy.
My BFF's husband is the GM of the Riverside Suites in Seaside. I always can get a free room there! But not sure if they have larger units. I'll ask her.

quiltingnonie 07-26-2011 08:29 PM

So here's the place we rented for DD's wedding @ Depot Bay.
Sleeps 16, is $399/nite, and is a 2 nite minimum.

It is adjacent to the Surfrider Resort and Restaurant. Click on 'Beach House' tab below the Rooms & Rates for a video.

cbridges22 07-27-2011 05:31 AM

How would the last week in Oct be?The 29th,30th?I started a new post so others would see it that might want to connect with us awesome ladies!

KarenBarnes 07-27-2011 06:07 AM

Laurie, that looks like an awesome house! Look at all the space to set up tables and sew!!!

candlequilter 07-27-2011 09:38 AM

Here is one in Cannon Beach that looks great and is $195 a night with 2 night minimum. http://www.visitcb.com/vacation-rent...geDataID=35620

Plus it would be a little further north for the Washingtonians. I could possibly even come down for 1 day and night.

Thanks,
Sherryl

Great price, but would it be enough beds? Also, thought there wasn't a lot of workspace...altho we could use the pool table for a cutting table! LOL

It is not avasl. the last weekend in Oct. either.Where would work for you Washingtonians? What area?I was thinking the closer to Astoria the better or we could look somewhere in southern Washington,I just don't know the area,if you would help look or tell me where to look I would be grateful.
Do we keep posting here or on the new one I started since a few new people have expressed a interest? Cindy

KarenBarnes 07-27-2011 03:20 PM

Keep on both Cindy, I think they'll catch on and you can move to the new one very soon! There might be something in southern WA but unfortunately don't have time to help you find something! I found the last one on VRBO at www.vrbo.com

Hope that helps! I'll be taking my computer to the beach this weekend and will keep tabs on both threads!

I have a suggestion for a get-together. One of my guilds is having our bi-annual quilt show on October 8 and 9 (Saturday and Sunday). It's in Lebanon, which is south and east of Salem. We would love to see everyone there. Admission is only $4, and there's an excellent quilt shop in Lebanon. If you live nearby, you're also invited to enter your quilts in the show. There's no charge for that (no judging either).

quiltingnonie 07-30-2011 02:36 PM

That would be fun--especially for those that can't get away for a whole weekend. I have numerous quilts I could enter

I read about that on the flyer the Santiam Scrappers were giving out at the fair. I was actually thinking about attending their next meeting. I will probably be going to the quilt show to.
Here is their address. http://santiamscrappers.wordpress.com/ if you want to check out their blog.

Oh, I do hope you will come to the next meeting - it's this coming Tuesday at 7:00. (first Tuesday of every month) I should have thought to put in the blog address, so thanks for that too. I helped with hanging the quilts for the fair - there were some very nice ones, many of them made by the ladies in the guild. (And no, I didn't enter any.)

I would really like to meet some other quilters in the area, but i'm not sure how good I am at groups because I am not much of a joiner. I will put it in my phone calander and hopefully I will be there.

quilttiludrop 08-01-2011 11:31 AM

Valsma: I can almost guarantee that you won't know a single stranger in the bunch. All the ladies I've met and hung out with have been warm, friendly, funny and deeply caring. You shouldn't miss this opportunity for meeting new, wonderful friends.

I'm still on the 'maybe' list....DD is due 9/1 with baby #2. Baby #1 was 2 hrs from water break to delivery!! Husband thinks we should just take the RV up there, (Tigard) and camp out about a week ahead of time, so he can drive her Code 3 to hospital! (He's a retired cop, and still thinks he can get away with that sort of thing  )

I didn't go last year. There are lots of reasons I could give but truthfully I snore like a drunk sailor and don't want to embarrass myself or inflict a sleepless night for someone else. But I would consider coming if there was a hotel near by like the SurfRider hotel in Lincoln City has a beach house and hotel rooms. The Beach house sleeps 16 people. My dad celebrated his 70th birthday last year at that beach house and had our whole family- 3 kids and their families in all we had 14 people. It was a nice place and we had a great time.
